i have a 91 PZJ70 that has been converted to a 12V. from what i understand, i have never been good in electrical, shouldn't one change entire components like alternator, starter, other motors of the cruiser to switch the power supply like that? or would it be possible to just change the components like bulbs and leave others intact. i am also worried about the effect of the change during winter as in whether the 12v system will be able to comfortably provide the necessary crank voltage to start the engine, the lows during winter where i'm located is mid 20's. would adding a second battery to power my audio system and fog lights have a positive effect on helping the current battery maintain enough power to start the engine or would that just be a waste of time and money? although i'm not too serious about changing it back to 24v what would be the benefits of it since the original system was designed this way?

The benefits of 24V is that it takes 1/2 the amps to do the same work. If everything has been changed from 24V to 12V, then leave it that way. It is a big job which means that ever 12V component (relays, sensors, gauges, solenoids, motors, etc, etc.) have to be replaced. You can add another battery in parallel, if you think you need more reserve power.

thanks man. that is all is takes for me to leave it as it is right now. i have just one more query, what should i do regarding the fuses? do i leave them as they are, which is all random ratings, change them so that they are as specified by toyota although i guess that would be for 24V, or calculate new amperes; which i doubt i'll be able to do. thanks again for your time.

Note, if the wiring in there is for 24V, then the gauge may be too small. I don't know if Toyota changed the gauge of the wires depending on if the model was 12V or 24V. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can say? I know in my Nissan Safari, it appears that I had 18 gauge running to the headlights. IMO, that is barely enough at 24V. At 12V, you would have too much amperage and voltage drop for the upgraded bulbs I have in there.
