Ok, first let me explain 2 things. #1- I love the Cummins Diesel. #2- I do not know whether or not the 6bt swap and the 24v isb CR would follow the similar procedures to swap. I have swapped a 24v isb CR into a 2003 Silverado 2500HD with help from my father-in-law who is a certified diesel technician. I did a search and did not find the info I was after and I didnt feel like searching through 32 pages of posts in the diesel swap thread. My question is this- I can get a 2005 HO 5.9 600 Cummins 24v isb CR with a Suncoast transmission and transfer case for a SCREAMING price. I know the 6bt swap has been done in an FZJ80. What would it take to put the 2005 motor and trans into my 1995 FZJ80?

How can you love something you don't know anything about? You need to seriously do tons of research before even entertaining the thought of a motor swap. Much less a diesel swap. Take your screaming price x's 2 and it just may run but I'm guessing it's going to cost more than that.

Search is your friend. There are several threads on this conversion. Try the diesel thread for 80's as well. The 5.9 has been installed by Slee Offroad IIRC as a turn key. I believe they also sell a conversion kit as well.
Good luck on your search.

Also, the price of the swap is not a problem. I have a friend who has a wrecked (rear end and cab are trash, tree fell on the truck) 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 and he will let the drivetrain go for $1500. It has a lot of upgrades such as the aforementioned Suncoast transmission, etc. Thanks again

If it was that easy or cheap, a lot more folks would have done it before. Slapping a motor into the engine bay is the easy part, making it run and be drive able is another whole ball of wax. If you are doing the work yourself, set aside $10k and a lot of time. If you are going to have someone else do it, set aside $25k.

I would think the headache would be the computer on a 2005. The engine will fit. May need to measure how big the transmission is to see if it would fit underneath.

Dive right on in and do the swap .. You have a diesel technician to help you, you can pick up the Cummins for a steal & you have swapped one in before.
I say what are you waiting for .:D

$$$$$$$
