I have a 23 GX and would really like to get it tuned to assist with the transmission shift points. The engine power gains are minimal so my primary focus is the transmission.

I have tuned many a vehicle in the past and have always been given the tune files; This allowed me to remove the tune before taking the vehicle to the dealer, install a towing tune, economy, etc. Hook up the laptop / AutoCal, 10 minutes I'm on the way.

RC tuning seems to be the go to however they will not provide me the tune files. Their response was rather harsh stating that if I wanted a different tune I can essentially wait until they're in town so they can put the tune on for me. That's not going to work if I have to drive 3 hours to get a towing tune, economy tune, or whatever I decide for my situation. Their concern of "theft" is BS as the tune files are locked to the assigned VIN#.

Are there any other tuners that provide the files to the customers so they may program the tune as they see fit? I have read conflicting reports about YotaWerx if they provide the files to the customer?

I did not get the files for my YotaWerx tune.

Do any of the tuners provide the files?

I am waiting on a return call from a friend, we tuned his GX with an emailed set of files/software. I am pretty sure it was from YotaWerx......He had multiple tunes sent to him.

YotaWerx does provide tune files. I bought the package with a single-VIN VF tuner license and the OBD2 to USB cable. They provided me several different files and I've reflashed a couple times.

No idea.

What did you pay? I really want the option to have the following:
- Stock tune files
- Modified: Towing
- Modified: Aggressive
- Modified: Mild/Moderate

Any idea why is RC tuning in Florida so hard on giving the files that were paid for? They are all essentially the same?

I think it was around $500-600. You'd need to contact them to get updating pricing. They gave me two tune options - Weekend Warrior and Active Duty, with the latter being more aggressive. Out of those, each had a 87 and a 91 octane tune. So six total tune files, plus the stock tune. I've only messed with the Active Duty 87 tunes, and find they suit my needs just fine. The throttle mapping is just fine and not overlay aggressive like a sport mode button would be. On my 470 with headers/exhaust/CAI it added quite a bit of additional midrange torque that was immediately noticeable, especially when towing. I would expect the gains to be less on a stock rig.

Regarding RC tuning, they probably want to hold on to the files so they don't end up getting shared online and loaded on other rigs for free. In theory, anyone who has the file and a VF Tuner license could then tune other folks vehicles (a multi-VIN VF tuner license is not cheap, however).
