Hi, I'm looking for the USA R151F transmission bellhousing that came between it and the turbo 22RTE engine.

I'm trying to find this as I can use a higher quality W56 bell to VW turbodiesel adapter from Diesel Conversion Specialists vs the other offerings. Hoping for an ALH mTDI install with a Land Rover 200TDI mechanical pump, and a K14 wastegated turbo, or possibly stick with the VNT turbo on the ALH and use an electronic controller.
Trying to build a rugged 4x4 that also gets respectable fuel economy... for the long term.

Thanks!

Chuck

Yes I just missed one on ebay....

31111-36190 is the original Toyota part number, discontinued for the past few years. I'm actually very surprised that no one has reproduced these...
Now it looks like my only option is an Advance Adapters kit to mount a 15mm thick adapter plate to the transmission in order to use a 4 cylinder 22r bellhousing.

I'm confused as to how this will work out, as I am reading that the R150F/R151F input shafts are the same length as the w56, and the bellhousings are the same distance, aside from the r151f for some reason is 6-1/4" vs the R150F & W56 @ 6-3/8". It seems to me like the extra 15mm of adapter would require an extra 15mm of transmission input shaft if the bells and input shafts are identical early R15# series vs w56...

i hear you man.
as far as i know, even if the input shaft is only 1/4 longer on r151, the diameter overall of the pilot bearing shaft might be where the difference is between the two.

here in Cali is very hard to find an r151 for the 4 cylinder models. and trust me, i am always on the lookout for one so i can upgrade my truck's.

but if i see anything in the near future, i shall keep you in mind.

good luck man!

That is the adapter that shows me some hope that I may be able to make this work. It says that it converts the early R15#F series transmissions with the shorter input shaft (vs Tacoma era '94+ R150F's) to fit a 22R engine application.

From the info that I have dug up, early version R150F bellhousing is the same length as the w56 bell, and the input shaft between those two transmissions are also the same. So I do not know how adding 15mm to the bellhousing distance, in essence shortening the input shaft 15 mm, is going to work...???

I will probably start another thread on this topic outside of my wanted thread, as most people are not looking here to give technical assistance!

To further add complications, I am really looking to use a diesel conversion specialists adapter that will make the back of a Volkswagen 1.9TDI "ALH" model engine look like a 22R. this includes a nice CNC machined dowel pin located aluminum adapter, and a 6061-T6 billet crankshaft adapter to directly bolt the Toyota 22R flywheel on to the Volkswagen crank with the adapters, as well as the Toyota starter.
ACME Adapters supposedly offers the same adapter to go V6 3.0L bellhousing from a pre-96 R150F etc to the VW diesel, but this requires use of their specially machined flywheel as well, & I have read minor complaints about others saying that their bellhousings are not perfectly aligned on the current center line, and that the diesel conversion specialists adapter is spot-on accurate, and nicer quality. Both are significantly better than the Keltec kit that is offered for Suzuki Samurai's to convert to VW diesel/Toyota trans.
there is yet another adapter from a gas to diesel conversion website, but it seems ridiculously expensive compared to the other options. And it requires a special high torque mini starter that you must buy from them. having some specialized adapters and then being able to use a stock off-the-shelf flywheel and starter is a much better choice for me. pilot bushings or bearings are easy to come by or machine up in any size, so I'm not worried about a custom application for that. The starter and flywheel, yes I am.

Thanks!
Chuck

How much those go for. I saw one off totota pickup from 80s. That has 22r engine.
If it’s off a 22R it’s not the same, these only came on 22RET enginesz
