Well I stayed up till 5 this morning putting my new motor in the 4 Runner. I got the motor from Sean as a previously running motor, I know it runs and has no issues. It has been de-smogged, but everything is hooked up that needs to be to run. I swapped over my new cap, rotor, and plugs to this motor and the fuel rail as well, that is all that has been changed from before.

Now it turns over no problem, but will not start or run, it kinda sounds like it wants to, but isn't, it is getting spark and fuel and the exhaust manifold does get hot after cranking it.

Nothing was damaged in the truck with the other engine, so I am not sure what it could be, any body have a guess or a clue as to what I should look at or adjust.

Man, you have the patience of a saint. I'm clueless, but good luck!

I'll get it runing, it has to, it ran in Sean's truck no problem. Gonna check all the electrical connections again and make sure the injectors are working, which they should be.

Sounds like the standard fuel, air, spark is in order.... any engine codes? are your grounds solid (block to firewall, block to frame rail, battery connections, etc.)?

What's your fuel pressure? got 12V at the sending unit? Just some standard stuff I know... HTH,

Yeah, all thats good. I am starting to think that I may have bumped the timing off when I put the new cap and rotor on. Gonna put it to TDC and reinstall the distributor 1 up. I will double check the grounds again and the electrical connections.

Really thinking back when it was trying to start it kind of sounded like a timing issue, cause it would want to start, but not be right.

on the timing subject. did you get the fireing order wrong when you hooked up the disty and wires again? It sounds like fuel is bruning just not exploding in the cylinders.

1 thru 4 front to back and the cap is labeled. Gonna double check the fuses as well.
