Hey all, long time addict first time poster, in the 200 group.

We just picked up a 2016 LX 570 and I just realized it has 21” wheels. I could have swore when I looked it had 20’s but oh well. We’re 21’s common on these? Seems like 20’s were the norm. Is there anything under there that would make it so I couldn’t fit 20’s?

And last but not least, does anybody have some 20” takeoffs they want to unload?

Thanks in advance and I’m sure I’ll have more questions.

Congrats on the new rig. On the 2016+ 21s are the norm. I have a set of 20s with new hwy Michelins on them that I would gladly sell, but the distance probably negates that. Might check the classifieds.

Lx/LC share bolt pattern with Tundra/Sequoias, so thats the best avenue if looking for takeoffs.

21's come on the Luxury model (ML sound, screens, etc.) and 20's on the standard/base.

Exactly.

You do want the 21” for the luxury bits, but also the 20s still leave a lot off the table for the platform. Why not go with 18s?

21’s suck. I like my 20’s. I think the 2016lx 20’s look fantastic. The 21’s make me want to punch a wall.

Rollin on 20s...

Thanks haus. Yeah you’re a bit far. I thought I read they changed the bolt pattern on/after 2016. Anybody know?

21” for luxury bits, 20s leave a lot off the table? I know they are part of a package but what are you referring to? Can I install 20’s on our rig or are those luxury bits something like lager rotors the 20” wheel won’t fit over? I prefer more sidewall.

The bolt pattern is same on all 200s. The brakes changed in 2016, but they went to Tundra sized at that point (were slightly smaller before that) So anything that fits any year 200 or 2nd gen Tundra works on your truck. You can go down to a 17” even with 2016+ brakes.

Just saying that on 20s your a bit limited in proper tires for what the 200 can be used for. Nothing inherently wrong with 20s, and they can look good and can definitely be wheeled but then you are limited in tire up sizing a bit. There are a few good folks here on 20s. I just dont think its "right" for a lack of better words.

You can fit just about any wheel from 17-22 without any issue. Its the sidewall limitations like you said that keeps us mostly on 17s and 18s.

Luxury package odds and ends i believe changed around so i cant comment on what package bits you get alongside the 21s. But i know its something lol sorry, im not being very helpful. Definitely didn't mean to dissuade you but if you are looking for sidewall then smaller would be better indeed.

This is the first rig we’ve had that isn’t on 16’s. We prefer sidewall and many reasonably priced tire options. What size wheel is best for that? 21’s aren’t it, 20 are a bit better. I guess I should have led with this question. Sorry.

Was trying to retain a bit of stock looks but maybe we throw that out the window. While we’re at it, what if anything is the benefit of larger wheels? I don’t get it. My feeble/wheeling brain only understands the benefit of smaller wheels. Like 16’s.

I’m really not being a “search!” guy, but for finding pictures google is your friend. Personally I don’t think 18s fit with the lines of a LX, especially 2016+, but 18s do have a clear benefit off-road. Just depends on where your priorities lie.

So yeah, something like “site:ih8mud.com lx570 285/65R18” in google then selecting images would help you imagine what this could end up looking like. You may get many more results changing the syntax.. 285/65/18 vs R18, for instance. Or any of the other popular tire sizes.. 285/55R20, 285/70R17, 285/75R17,

My friend has a white 13 LX and simply putting 285/55r20 Toyo AT3s on the stock 20” wheels looks great. IMO that was the best looking LX wheel.. but it may not work as well with 2016 body lines. They generally don’t off-road to the level to “need” 18s yet, but maybe eventually.

Thanks bloc. Haven’t really ramped up the Google fu on this search yet, so thanks for the info. Just had a couple questions and wanted to come in here and have a conversation vs. going nuts on Google. A search for the title of this thread yielded zilch on Mud, so I asked. Seems I may be on the search for some 20’s within 500 miles of SW Montana if anyone can help, drop me a PM.

I’d also be interested to hear what you guys think will look good with the lines of a 2016 LX. We’re used to 40 and 60 series criusers, so we’re used to 90 degree lines. Hahahahahahaha.

Any time. I’m not the best at delineating what about it looks funny, I just remember seeing some 16+ LXs with 17s and 18s and thinking it looked worse than a similar cruiser with the same wheel. Might come down to the angular design language.. not sure.

And this isn’t to say it can’t look good.. there is a 17 or 18 LX with the front bumper chopped for a bull bar and big meats and it looks bad ass.

IMO the platform was built around 18s, I would go for 18s. 19+ you are seriously changing driving dynamics from the intent.
17s I think honestly look too small for the scale of the truck. They will only continue to get lost as you size up tires.

Both the 16+ 20” and 21” suit the LX well, but so do plenty of non “off-road” wheels. They tend to be very one dimensional in their design. They do still work though out of sheer simplicity, ike mine for example. Never was a fan of the look per se but they make up for it technically.

Do you know what tire you want to run? That’s a good starting point.

We don’t know what we want to run. We’ve only ever had older trucks with 16’s and meats. Want to keep this girl looking classy, but the availability of 21” tires is pretty slim so I’m wondering do I just go down to a 20” or do I go to 18”. We live on the side of a mountain east side north facing road so so and ice is no joke. We bought the LX so we could still go anywhere we want but do it with class, short of wheeling, apparently we’re getting older… Definitely need to be able to run chains if necessary so that’s a big negative with 21’s in addition to tire pricing. Is there a benefit to larger wheels? Better MPG because more wheel is lighter than more rubber? Leaning towards 18’s so we can run over more stuff. What wheels do you guys think compliment the lines of the truck. Happy to just go with black but don’t want them to look cheap…just want them to be cheap.

We are really impressed with the looks of this rig, so I don’t want to ruin it with the wrong wheels.

Our 2019 LX570 with 33's on the stock 20's, I thought it looked decent even though I didn't care for the wheels all that much.

I went with 18” LC wheels. And replaced the Toyota caps with Lexus versions. Not especially fond of the looks but getting used to them.

The ride on the 21’s, over city chuckholes, was too jarring for me.

I want to test drive that setup so bad lol. Lots of things to observe with this but I bet the ride is amazing.

I love the 2016+ stock 20’s. They look fantastic with bigger tires. All should come from the factory just like this.
