Hi fellas, not my truck trying to help out my friend not get played. Completely stock other than undercoating (does that count?), doesn't tow, doesn't wheel, Michigan climate.....the absolute definition of a soccer mom grocery getter.

She's done all her maintenance at the dealer up to this point, she's in for the 45k. The dealer is telling her to change the plugs, pads, change the coolant, change the tranny fluid, change the diff fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid and they want to give her an "engine conditioner" on top of the misc BS.....I told her to get the hell out of there and I'll send her to my indy with a list and I'll get the parts.

Okay here's what I got for sure:

-Oil change and filter 0w-20 and the OEM filter/gasket

-Rotate Tires

-I will get her some pads just in case she needs them I'll let my indy who I trust decide, she'll need them soon anyway so they can be for next time. (Just go with stock pads right?)

-Lube shaft, tighten

-Engine and cabin filter (probably still good from the 30k but why not those are easy I'll do it myself)

Really don't think she needs tranny fluid change yet, power steering or obviously plugs. But how about brake fluid, coolant, transfer case and diffs? I know there are different schools of thought on that, especially the coolant, what do you guys think? Anything else I'm missing? She plans to keep this truck very long term....

I did all of those fluids on my wife’s 2020 at 50k and we also plan to keep very long term. The pads probably need it sooner than later, so have that on the radar. The spark plugs should go for a 100k or close to it. That is my 2 cents.

I agree on all of those fluids, but don't agree with the plugs. The GX460 tranny is known to run hot and the 1UR engine is known to have coolant leaks. Both of those issues can be at least partially mitigated by frequent fluid changes.

HOWEVER I am sure the dealer will be expensive for all of those items. You might be able to find an independent dealer who can do them at a sizeable discount over the dealer.

Yea I wasn't going to let her have the dealer do it regardless. Interesting though, you think at 45k miles a grocery getter pretty much needs base lining at that point?

I would do coolant after having to do a radiator, front timing seal and valley plate to the tune of over $7K.

But never go back to that dealer. Ever ever.

Yes. I change all fluids in all of my vehicles at that interval. Stop and go grocery getter mileage is actually pretty hard on rigs. Fluids are cheap, valley plates and transmission rebuilds are not :).

Can't argue with that....

So oil, tranny, coolant, brake, steering, tcase and diffs. Did I miss any?

i would do all the above except the spark plugs. at 45k, my brakes were already worn, diff is 30k service interval, trans fluid was very dark, drive shaft is 5-15k service interval. you may consider added a trans cooler while you’re at it. they can be had for cheap like $50.

Thank you brother, you got a recommendation on the trans cooler?
