Looking to buy and this one caught my eye. Would you do it? 2019, 68k miles, $59,998.
My 01 is just not feeling as reliable as I want it to as a daily with 2 kids in PNW. Lots of mountain time in the winter and road trips in the summer.

Looks solid from listing, if records, service history, car max, etc are all good I'd consider it. I have a 2019 w 77k miles and it's by far the greatest car I've ever owned.

There's a good reason that this 2024 is only $13k more than the 2019: https://www.carmax.com/car/26477021

Thanks,
Carfax comes back as “clean” but service history is spotty at best. I know carfax doesn’t capture everything, am I wrong to assume that someone buying a vehicle for >$60k is going to at least do the bare minimum? I guess my question is other than oil changes, are there any big services that are needed before 4yr/68k miles?

Looks like it's enroute!

You might consider going to the Toyota website and adding the vehicle to your 'garage'. From there you can see any service history for work done at the dealer. CarMax/AutoCheck won't pick up everything. And some owners do their own work. Mine, for example, has very extensive regular maintenance but none of it shows because it's done in the driveway.

At ~70k and 5 years I'd do trans fluid, coolant, and all three diffs to baseline if you couldn't determine with certainty they had been done.

Looks like a solid, rust free truck but like @OregonLC said check the service history on Toyota website. So many clues in the service history to be gleaned.

For comparison, back in July we bought a similar 2019 white / terra from CarMax for $65k @ 45k miles. Also 3 owners and 100% rust free. I searched daily, almost compulsively, for well over a year.

Put 5k miles and trucks been fantastic so far.

To help reduce risk, went with the CarMax warranty but haven't used it yet so no feedback there.

Good luck!

Thanks guys,
As you’ve noticed it’s on its way and then we’ll get to check it out a little better. Unfortunately CARMAX doesn’t allow third party inspections. Would have to buy and take advantage of their return policy it there are major issues I don’t find on the lot... anything specific I should look at?
Fully plan to get the CarMax warranty if we do buy… Thanks Doug DeMuro for demonstrating how valuable it can be.

@n55luvr how much was the CarMax warranty , also in the market scouring the market to get one and also might go with Carmax once I find the right one

Warranty was just under $2100. That was for 125k mile or 5 years. $50 deductible. Serviceable at Toyota dealership.

Haven't used warranty yet so no clue how easy it will be but I've heard it's relatively straightforward to make a claim.

I was really only comfortable making a purchase like this with warranty coverage and really only pursued either Toyota cpo or CarMax maxcare. So that definitely limits number of options.

Good luck in your search!

Generally, bare minimum IMO. Talked to a lawyer who had bought a new LC and just did oil changes at jiffy lube. Wanted a reliable vehicle that didn’t need maintenance lol.
