OH Deer Valley this year, and Sour Grass next year for the big one

ok. This year's event will be at Deer Valley due to popular demand. It'll be pretty low key; no big raffle, no shirts. Sorry but I just don't have time to deal with it this year. If everybody is up for it, then we can have a raffle with participant prizes only ( no vendors ) and AWAY from my camp. Trying to eat dinner before the raffle an having a live audience watching every bite we take just isn't fun.

That having been said, I will start another thread shortly with more info.

Next year will be my 50th birthday and the 20th anniversary for the event. It'll be at Sour grass and we'll do a BIG raffle and hope to get as many 45s together as possible ……… this will also be the last time I host the event. I've been doing it for 20 years ….... if somebody else wants to take over I'll be happy to help out.

Outstanding ! Keep it simple. Its not about the raffle or shirts. Its about one the Greatest Family reunion's we get to attend once a year. I will break out my stencils and paint. Flashback to 2011 Bring your own white t shirt and we will hook you up LOL

Looking forward to it! One of my favorite locations on earth. So, is the trail actually legally open now? Wasn’t sure. I’ve heard all kinds of different rumors.

It is. Be aware though, PG&E has almost all of the campgrounds around Blue Lakes closed this year, due to various maintenance projects they're doing in the area.

Thanks for the information but still I say Deer Valley. Go with what we know.
Used to be able to park truck and trailers behind the dam at Lower Blue Lake.
Hopefully that’s still the same.

It will be great to see you out there KT!

Deer Valley is still one of my favorite trails and this was my first cruiser event, I will definitely be there.

What's the weather like at camp, and how bad are the mosquitoes ✈

What's the weather like at camp, and how bad are the mosquitoes ✈

You remember...you’ve been to DV prior to Sourgrass. Beautiful in the day and cold at night. Good sleeping weather. As far as Mosquitoes, heavy this year. I drove back in to the trailhead a week and a half ago and got out of my truck and was instantly eaten alive. Bring lots of repellent. Lots of snow patches back in there too. Actually looks a lot greener in there as well.

Thanks for the update 👍. Yep I remember well "Beautiful in the day and cold at night" (80+/- and 40+/-), but some years it has been in the high 90's during the day and low 30's during the night (ice left in my glass at night was still ice in the morning ☃). I was just wondering which way the pendulum was swinging, if at all. The other variable are the mosquitoes, was hoping it wasn't bad but knew we had a lot of rain this year :vamp:.

@KT40 Did you drive out to the camp site? If so, how was the trail (good/bad)?
