Let’s move the discussion from 2018 Moab pre-funk to here. Carry on!

Saved for head count

Saved for list of trails

Saved for truck prep.

I’m interested in this. Depending on all the factors we could also look into ferrying vehicles.

Ok. I live up here in AK. A few things to consider. Depending on our winter there can still be a lot of snow on the ground early to mid May and late April thorough mid May can be very rainy/snowy. We are turning into a huge tourist destination (which isn’t a bad thing) so June through late August things are busy. Another thing to consider is if salmon fishing is a priority? Then the runs are certain windows and I can elaborate more if so. Denali national park, you can’t drive on the dirt roads in the park other than the last weekend they are open (mid September) known as the “road lottery”. It’s really cool we got it 3 years ago but fairly tough to get. To put in for the lottery the application opens May 1 and is open the entire month.

I don’t really off road much just to off road my off roading is to get to fishing, hunting, gold prospecting,... so don’t know many of the off road trail systems all that but can get you started on where to look.

I’m happy to Answer any questions and if I think of anything else I’ll post it up.

Sound good if there is a reasonable option.

For transporting vehicles that you will not be traveling with it’s a Barge from Seattle to anchorage. Takes 1-2 weeks and is $2-3k depending on fuel prices and the time of year.

Just to let my imagination run a bit, I’d consider making this a major expedition for my wife and me. Maybe driving to Seattle, getting on an Alaskan State Ferry with my LC, then meeting other MUD members somewhere in AK for few days of interesting drives, then heading back to the lower 48 on the Alaskan Highway and finally home on the trans-Canadian highway. Probably well more than a month total, but doing a bunch of stuff i’ve always wanted to do. Hmm.....

I'm interested, but 16-18 days is about it for vacation time for me in the summer...

I will be taking a trip to Alaska (Tuktoyaktuk actually) in 2019, so I too am interested. I did the trip in 2016 on my motorcycle, I want to do it with the LX now.

That is a dream of mine.

We did the trip to Dawson City with the LC and the next year to Inuvik and intend to do the Tuk trip next fall. It is spectacular country.

So I have some info on wheeling. I talked to a guy my wife works with that has a built out Wrangler and is an avid wheeler.

The gate at Hatcher’s pass, hour and a half from Anchorage and some of the best wheeling in south central AK opens June 1st. He recommended looking at the public Facebook page for: Alaska Extreme off-road. He also mentioned if you all plan a trip he could organize some club events to go out with a group.

Obtain the most recent version of The Milepost. That should pretty much fix you up.

Mine is exactly same as yours

Except I wanted to drive up there and return on Alaskan state ferry

Alaska is one of my favorite places.
