$190? Will this work in my LX? Dealer quoted $350, same thing on ebay...
Not sure if it will fit as most sites don't have cross reference list. I'd recommend calling the dealer directly and giving them the part # & see if it will fit. You may need to call a few as some parts dept's may not take the extra step of looking up the cross ref. info.

I recently updated my navigation mapping in my 2017 LC with the most recent available update and it worked. The part # is 86271-gn8lc-21 direct from the supplier, "Welchsoft referenced the same part#. It cost me $190.00. Here are pics of the part# and map screen after the update for reference.
Can you share your upgrade experience as well as your user impressions once you upgraded?

I just updated my 2018 LX today (which had 2017 map data installed). I ordered SKU 219-GEN09-22 from the parts department at my local Lexus dealer, for $210. Swapped the cards in the parking lot, started the engine, confirmed the update popup, drove to a gas station ~10 minutes away, and then the update completed when I restarted the engine again. The new map data in the system shows June 2022.

I'll probably repeat this every 5-6 years while I own the vehicle, in order to have a serviceable backup to Google Maps on my phone.

Any updates on a reliable source for map data? I don't need it often, but when I do it is really needed. I was recently stuck without cell service and actually used the built in maps to get to a remote cabin.

Its probably cheaper to buy a cell booster in the long term:rofl:

There are not a lot of places where I can't get a least a little service with my Weeboost Drive.

I too would like to update our map on our 2018 LC which has a 2017 map.

This is why we also carry a Garmin Nuvi which still gets free map updates from Garmin. You do know that if you're using Google Maps you can download local maps ahead of time so that cell service isn't needed to navigate? We've used this frequently in the mountains. You obviously don't get traffic info or search results but you can still navigate quite well.

We also have a Weboost which helps a lot with with cell signals but doesn't totally eliminate the problem.

Yep lots of workarounds that are more financially logical. But I just like being able to use the built in nav on the rare occasion that I’m without cell service. Plus it helps justify the absurdly overpriced overkill outdated 4x4 when I can justify the old ass ancient nav since “welp it uses local stored maps so it’s designed for going off grid that’s why it lacks even the most basic functionality of its competitors of 2020”

Any reason you don’t want to use Toyota updates? That’s the reliable way to go.

Agree 100%. I didn't mean to imply that I found this nav map issue less than infuriating. Mr T no doubt thought it would be a nice little revenue stream but I guess even that's too much trouble.

We didn't get the nav system option on our 2006 Avalon precisely because I was convinced, even in 2006, tha Toyota wouldn't keep up their end. Salesman at the time couldn't believe it. We've perfectly happily used a Garmin in that car its whole life.

I mean if that's the only option then fine. I am not one to really avoid OEM or whatever, but $300 / year for map updates is excessive and I wouldn't feel guilty about buying one from ebay or wherever. If it were $50, hell maybe $100 I would order from the dealer. But $300 seems like a cash grab to me.

"remote cabin" ... The OEM gps map is way off .. when I get on those blue ridge mountain trails.

I was thinking of possible upgrading the GPS antenna, has anyone done that? My hand held garmin i spot on but not the toyota.

Ahhhh. I’m west of blowing rock, about 10 miles into the gravel roads. The Oem nav worked fine for me. Technically I think my phone auto downloaded the maps but I wanted to play young urban professional with the nav unit

The most recent I know of is 2022. I don’t know when updates are released.

Thank you! I had been checking for it but missed it. :bang:

Last I heard updates come out in November but that may be wrong.

I just TODAY got the nav update 86271-GN8LC-23 from Olathe; the order was made 2/24/2024.
Perhaps there will be updates available in the future or perhaps not.

EDIT: I just did the update and it worked!

I to placed an order with Olathe Toyota for the 8671-GN8LC-22 back on 2/20/2024. Shipment got delayed as Toyota was updating to new software: 8671-GN8LC-23 (software date 6/1/2023).

Quick install and it works on a 2020 LC200

2018 LC here. I just got my 2023 map update today. Put in the microSD slot. Is there anything special you need to do to update?
Update software tab is greyed out.
Edit: I figured it out. I think the info below is the firmware version of the physical nav unit. Replied with map the version info another another post a few down.
