I am not sure what month the club was officially formed. I got stated with Steve Smith, who started the Colorado Land Cruisers chapter, on the clubs 3rd off road run. We ran Hancock, Tomichi, and Tincup pass on July 21, of 1996. There were six cruisers who attended that day including mine. 5 FJ40's and my FJ55. I think the club was just a month or so old when I got involved.

That sounds like some of our past annual Buena Vista weekends. I stopped working on that a couple of years ago due to lack of interest. In the past they were held in August. Maybe we should bring it back for this year?

Perhaps we should plan a Buena Vista weekend to commemorate the 20th anniversary.

That was my point ;)

I think the last BV weekend we had as a club is when you flopped coming off Hancock Pass somewhere on the way to Alpine Tunnel.

The BV area seems more appropriate to me in terms of a commemorative run. We could do it on a non San Juan weekend. I wouldn't worry about it as there seems to be little interest anyhow...

Had to bring that up din't you. Next will be Fitzgerald post a pick on the flopped 40.

Now that you mention it... It was 2013! I don't think Travis ever made a BV run.

I'll never forget that call on the radio...

As a matter of fact, the first official CLC club run was on 12/10/95 to Mt Baldy/Frosty Park area (FS 379). There were 5 FJ40's (ah, the old days), 1 FJ55 and one mini-truck. We rendezvoused at the end of the pavement above the Broadmoor. I won't say we aired down, as I'm not sure any of us knew to do that at the time. :-)

The next run I have any documentation of just says "Snowstorm in Divide".

The first LC rally in Denver was on 5/18/96.

The BV trip was on 8/10/96, and included Hancock, Tomichi and Tincup passes. Founder, Steve Smith, Mark Bush and others of us were present.

Our first Metberry trip was in the winter of '97.

Come to the party in July to see photos of all these, and maybe some of a few other FJ40 adventures...

@Grimeless - Thanks for sharing the founding timeline. I really think we should commemorate the Hancock, Tomichi, Tincup run for the 20th Anniversary.

As for the party in July, does anyone have a projector and screen that we can show pictures on?
