Sorry for the newb question. I have a new-ish to me 2018 LC and picked up a set of 17" wheels for it. I had planned on going with Michelin Defender MS2s but only recently realized the only 285/70 option is LT/E-rated, which seems overkill for my needs. Also while I'm pretty sure 285/70s (32.5") fits without rubbing, I'm less sure it will in a tire with a more aggressive tread. The 285/70 Defender goes up to 32.8" in E-rated, for example. Same with K03s.
I've run BFGs on many vehicles before and they're pretty harsh in E-rated. Would the C-rated version be noticeably better? Still a LT tire...
Are people running 275/70s? No Defenders in that size but C-rated Wildpeaks are avail. I had those on my GX and they were OK
What would you all do? I don't plan to modify my suspension anytime soon. Not in the lifetime of this set of tires at least. And I've gone the "just take a heat gun to it" approach with a slightly overstuffed wheel well before and never really got rid of full-lock rub. I don't want to do that again.
The wheels are Rock Warriors, by the way. +50 offset.
Thanks!
