We're kicking around the idea of a late February ONSC Gulches run. Any interest from LCLC? Hoping for a relatively warm and dry weekend to improve camping comfort.

Interested. Never been.

I'm glad you asked! You "beat me to the punch", so to say...

Gents, as we look forward to 2016, I'm keeping an eye out for the UC and ONSC events to see where it makes sense to hold our own events. It was discussed at the parade that we would have a Spring Event so as not to interfere with GSMTR/Spring Tide Ride (May), OTMT (August), Logan's Run (Sept), Black Balsam (Oct), and the Christmas Parties (Dec). I propose that we have an official LCLC Gulches Run on the 12th/13th of March with a HAMOM on the 27th of February. If everyone is amenable to this time frame, the next thing we need to establish is whether it's a day trip, an overnighter, or a 2 night event. I'm thinking one night should do it. They have some camping spots that are along a creek.

Also, several of us have tossed the Charleston Cars and Coffee idea out a few times. They seem to end pretty early and they're held right up the road from @dbenke 's house. How does everyone feel about attending CCC as a warm-up to a HAMOM at David's place? Obviously it won't work for everyone every time, but I think it would be a cool place to meet up. Plus, us Summerville folks are rarely allowed in Mt Pleasant, so we have to take advantage of the time we get there...

Gunner and I are doubtful until the early / Middle March due to his Church basketball schedule.

We do have Jan 27th open, it appears, at this time.

I like the cars and coffee idea,
do we want to try that next weekend, or wait until next time?

So long as I can get back for Gman's BB game at 1PM, I'd be up for CCC before the HAMOM. I'm up before the chickens anyway.

Ok, we need to get there a little before 8:00

Suffering suck-a-tash! JMaC has a 9AM BB game Saturday. I had not looked at her BB schedule.

I am out for CCC & HAMOM - I might be able to make a cameo appearance in the afternoon...

c'mon by,
I'll still be around...maybe more

Do those clubs require membership to participate in their events? I seem to recall being passed over on Hurricane Creek because I was not a registered ONSC member (no hard feelings because I couldn't go anyway, but I thought there was a formal invitation to our club members).

I don't know anyone in ONSC or UC so the thought of paying those clubs dues just on the off chance I can go to one of their events doesn't really jive with me. It seems like a lot of you guys maintain membership in those clubs and I'm wondering if it's for the ability to go to their events, or if there is some other benefit?

Depends on the event. Some do some don't. Personally for me, I like supporting those clubs and I was originally part of ONSC before moving here. I will continue to maintain a membership in UC and ONSC but LCLC will remain my main club though.

People from both of those clubs want to become members of LCLC and support us as well, it's a nice little triangle of clubs if you ask me. We still have a ways to go but I think if we keep on this track will continue to grow. Keep tagging cruisers! Let me know if anyone needs business cards!

See you guys this weekend!

Hurricane Creek , is the only ONSC event that you have to be a member ,because of the limit on trucks that can go ,and demand for these trips . This year we will have 3 trips ,for more people can go.

Matt - I hear what you're saying. You've been involved with those clubs before, and have existing relationships, so it makes sense that you would continue to support them. Since I don't know anyone in those clubs, I'm an outsider at this point and trying to determine the best way to maximize my eligibility to attend events given how Land Cruiser stuff fits into my life.

I guess, ultimately what I'm trying to figure out is if LCLC is going to be so closely aligned to those events/groups that I have to join them in order to attend events, or if LCLC will have other trail rides/camping events on their own.

According to Eric, you only need to be an ONSC member to do the Hurricane Creek trip with them. I don't want to get too far ahead, but the LCLC has a calendar of events we're working on, so yes, you can attend our events without being an ONSC member. I appreciate you asking the question because I'm sure many others are wondering the same.

On a side note, I joined ONSC because at $100/10 years, it was worth it...to me.

Ditto. They're a good group of folks and I enjoy spending time with them. Most of their events don't require membership, though... Hurricane Creek is one and maybe the trips to the outer banks if you want to get in a cabin. The reason for that is because of limited space so they give preference to members. Same situation with UC - don't need to be a member, but if you want a spot in their awesome cabin at GSMTR, gotta pay the $10 club fee. If you go to GSMTR, that's a pretty good deal. Both clubs have great folks to wheel and camp with and membership is not a requirement. Also, their flagship events (LR and OTMT) have entry fees and I don't think you get a club member discount.

In my opinion, if it comes down to cruiser necessities or club membership, go with the cruiser.

Ahh! I failed to address this last sentence of yours... We are prepping the 2016 Calendar and planning for several wheeling events including Hurricane Creek. Tim will be the trail leader for that ride, BTW... I'm trying to plan around GSMTR, ONSC, and UC's big events so we're kinda on hold for their calendars to be released ( @Teddy and @GLTHFJ60 ). If you'll be at the HAMOM on Saturday, we can discuss. Should be a pretty exciting year for us.

If you have certain calendar dates where you know you will be unavailable, please bring them to the HAMOM this weekend or PM them to me! We are trying to finalize our event calendar and want to be sure we plan on dates where we are all available! This year we are planning on having some family events in addition to the HAMOM's. Also, it's freakin' hot in the summer, so those of us with heavy natural insulation are inclined to enjoy the AC rather than wrench outside (unless necessary, of course).

Our calendar has been up since November 4th big dog:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2::smokin:! There are a few dates towards the end of next year that we are never able to set this soon though. ***2016 Event Calendar***

Hold the phones! Is UC getting a cabin at GSMTR AND a house at STR???

We will have a cabin at GSMTR again for sure. Marshall and Steve are talking about getting a place for UC at STR, but I won't be able to attend that one. Looks like I will probably be at GSMTR again this year though for sure.
