I talked to Brian earlier he said he will post up soon. In years past its been individual meals all the time except for Saturday night. That's a group dinner normally made with local catches. As far as supplies for individual meals you can buy before or buy at the super market out there.

Sara,
There is a Food Lion in Avon on the right that we pick up grub and water when we go down. But we mainly buy fresh tuna/mahi at the local seafood places while down on the island. I would travel as light as I could in your 80 cause your gas bill won't be cheap. There is a shell station on left just before you turn right onto hwy 12 that I would fill up at. Gas is high when you get down around Frisco. You are gonna love
OBX! Also, take the ferry to see
ocracoke if you get time. Enjoy!!

Hi everyone it’s Heather. As you know Brian is kinda in the weeds and it has been hard for me to get much out of him as far as ONSC stuff and I am still figuring out our new situation myself. I apologize for the slow/non-posting on the Keefer side of things. That being said the following are some updates regarding the Spring Tide Ride this weekend.

1- The Keefer’s will be attending the STR Friday-Sunday.

2- Attendance:

Everyone attending please send me (Heather) an email at hvkeefer@gmail.com with the following information ASAP so I can put together an emergency contact list. For this trip in particular it is easy to get away from the group and it is also easy to get stuck in the sand (Ramon has video) so a contact list is needed.

a. Name,

b. Cell Phone #,

d. Days Attending STR ,

e. Camp Site #,

3- Meals:

a. Breakfast is typically on your own at the campsite or local establishment.

b. Lunch is typically on your own on the beach or in route to the VA line.

c. Dinners there is typically as follows:

Thursday: On your own or Local Restaurant

Friday: Club Meal.
Menu TBD on local offerings and amount of people participating in the meal.
All items will be purchased on the Island. ONSC will cover meal or provide cost per person after menu is set.

Saturday: Club Meal.
On the way back from the VA line trip we will make a stop at the Outer Banks Brewing Station. Everyone purchases food & beverage on their own and shares good company.

Note: Friday and Saturday Meals can be swapped depending on the day determined to be the travel day to the VA line.

Also, Please let me know if you would like to pool resources for breakfast or lunches during the trip.

Once we get the emails going I will send a group email out to discuss the particulars.

Thank you all so much for your patience. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Heather

Also just an FYI if you have a site with electric and water it is an RV plug and you will need a converter to use a standard plug. Keefer's will be bringing one with cord but you may need one sooner.

Hate we are missing the trip. Waaaay too much going on right now :(

To the above, unless it's changed, Frisco Woods loans these adapters with a deposit if you ask when you check in. Y'all have fun!

Looks like they're calling for rain all weekend.

Looks like they're calling for rain all weekend.

Looks like just a 30% chance on Friday, other days look good, nice temps.

So, this is Brian. Done with school, so I'm ready to relax a little. But, we'll have fun this weekend and we'll tailor to what everyone wants to do.

Those getting in on Thursday and want to hit the beach you'll have to take the driving course (7 minutes) and pay the fee. Check out the latest closures here: http://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/off-road-vehicle-use.htm

Two types of permits are available for purchase. They are
  • a 7-day Permit ($50, valid for 7 consecutive days),
  • or an Annual Permit ($120, valid for the calendar year).
But, we'll head up to the north on Saturday (NC-VA line), and driving up there is free. We'll hit a few landmarks and stop for dinner. Lunch will be on the road... Friday night we'll plan a dinner based upon what's available and everyone wants to eat. You won't go hungry...

Sounds good .

Had a great time . I'm in for the next one.

Great time guys! The Keefer's had a blast. We've got some great pictures, but since we'll try and get them published we'll have to go in and decide which ones NOT to put on Mud.

A recap for those who didn't go. We arrived early Friday morning an set up camp, Sarah, Eric, and Mike and Julie had already arrived the night before and were having breakfast and hanging out.

Frisco Woods Soundside was a little wet for the trip, but not as bad as it has been in times past, and no issues with the campsite at all. Went over to Ocracoke after getting our passes and cruised on the beach for a little bit. Friday was a little cool and windy, with some rain off and on, but not terrible. We got a chance to look at both Hatteras and Ocracoke lighthouses in the same day. Got dinner out, after a lengthy wait for a busy ferry. (3 church busses took priority for those already in line, and they're dredging the channel so it takes a little longer to get back and forth.

Saturday's temperature and weather was perfect for a trip up north. Bodie Island and Currituck lights and Jockey's Ridge was on tap, and short stop overs for all. The main attraction was the trip onto the northern beach road, with not one encounter with the Outer Bank horses, but three separate occasions.

The last was almost hitting them as we crossed over the dunes to get back to trails on the sound side. Soft sand made it a challenge, and we had pause a little to let John's truck cool down, but shortly after we cooled all the trucks down by getting into some deep water that increased the pucker factor a little. Since the whole region had had some substanial rains in the past, and being close to the sound, and ground water, made for some pond fording!

We regrouped and had dinner at Outer Banks Brewing Station and some beer to celebrate a great day at the beach! I'll post some pics later today...

So sad I missed this... Glad you guys had fun. Next year we are definitely going.

Definitely wish we were able to go. Hoping some plans will pan out so next year we will be able to make the long weekend. Looking forward to see pics and video.
