@Trd4rvapeur so how are we doing this? Are you selling the CAD file? Wanna make another one and I’ll make a road trip?

How do I get this on my 570 in less than 12 weeks?

I just need to make myself a new bumper from the cad file to PROVE that I actually know what i'm doing. That would be about 2 weeks from now. When it would be completed.

you're mouting the whole thing with the 6 nuts the held on the crashbar?

(8) bolts to be exact. Yes the same mounting point as the crush bar.

I’m no expert, but those 8 bolts are spot welded (3 each) to a thin piece of metal. I think that metal is only meant to hold the aluminum crash bar in case of impact - then, the force goes backwards into the much stronger frame.

You’re putting a lot of forward weight on that thin plate (away from the frame).

You might be fine, but I remember bending that plate when I was trying to bust out a stripped bolt.

I unfortunately can't find where else to mount it. I am all for having more support. On a previous bumper build (4runner) the radiator support had a threaded nut that I used for vertical support.

*Edit: I see in one of the photos the bumper bracket is using the lower tow link for vertical support. Glad you pointed this out, these are the types of input I like becuase then the next build i'll be able to make it better.

Other bumpers have also used the existing cutout holes in the frame horns to put large pins thru horizontally, and tie these into the bumper design.

My iron man bumper mounted in the following places

  • Through bolts on frame horns using a Clevis nut
  • Two bolts on bottom of frame (each side) to the captive nuts holding on recovery points
  • The existing studs used for crash bar
