I think I know when I'll be taking some vocation days next year.

I vote for the earlier dates. Otherwise we're getting kinda close to GSMTR.

Allen gets 2 votes since he went last year! I'm partial to those dates also...

weekend of the 21, we'd be unable :c I have physical inventory. That sucks.

I have no input other than Uwharrie work weekend should be the 20th of April.

So, no one's checked out the STR forum, so here's the thought process and a copy of the original post:

So we had low turnout for last year, we shifted to the beach house at the last moment, and it seemed to have a good vibe, we're going to switch things up for 2013. Going up to a week to make it worth it!

Format: Renting the biggest beach house we can afford and occupy on the North End, near Carova. The cost per bedroom per week seems to be around 200-250 for the week. Comparable (and cheaper) to staying at Frisco Woods...@270 a week for soundfront. I love camping, but when it's cheaper to stay in a house then camp, it's hard to turn it down.

The best thing is that we'll be able to drive on the beach (currently no fees or driving restrictions) get access to the back end of the sound with help from Swamprunner, who has a great bar layout in Corolla and wants to support us. http://www.corollabeergarden.com/

It's easier access to Outer Banks Brewing, some different kayaking, Jockey's Ridge, everything we usually head North for, but try to squeeze in a day. And still if you want to just park on the beach and hang out, you can still do it.

What I'm proposing is to post this in the main forum, gauge interest, and select a house based on interest. Then hold people to their share of the cost per week. If they back out, no refund. Sell your spot if you can't go. Just coming for the weekend? Buy a week, and see if you can get someone to share the cost.

What I'll see if we can do is get two weekends and the week between. Normally it's Sun-Sun, I'll see if we can get Sat-Sun, and some people can come the first weekend and stay mid week, then others can come midweek and stay the last weekend.

I'm proposing either April 20-27, or Apr 27-May 4 for the 2 possible weeks.

Ideas and comments?

Waiting on approval from that guy in charleston. Haha

Not sure if im in or not sorry

I like the idea and want to attend, no preferences on dates. What happens if it's scheduled, house is leased, but there aren't enough people to cover the share of the cost? Do attendees have to pay up the rest?

I'll only lease a house big enough for those who have paid at the deadline (I'm thinking Feb sometime). So, if only 4 couples/families pay their share at the deadline, I'll get a house big enough for those people. Anyone wanting to go after the deadline, will have to take care of their accommodations.

We can be flexible, but in order to get a good house, we'll need to move quickly. So who's in and who's out?

I cant be sure that Laura and I can both take a week off that far in advance, so I'm out. If that changes, I'll let you know.

All this depends on the job situation for me..... so for now i'm out. If it changes i'll let you know, if it changes after the cut off and we can make it we'll just camp someone and meet up with everyone at the house during the day.

Out

Sent from my EVO using IH8MUD

In on concepts, will have to check dates against my and Emma's work travel.

 R

Yeah, I'll be in between a trip to Denmark and a trip to China in May (which I'll be out for GSMTR as it's on the same week)...

I'm out. My goal is to make work weekends at URE.

Thanks for the clarification, Brian. Once you set a date, I'll be able to say yay/nay.

I'd like to go, but can't commit to a full week.

I should be able to attend.
