2013 lx570 roof cargo option- factory bars

I believe the factory bars are set farther back on the lx570 than the LC, and I still want to open the tailgate.

anyone have a cargo box on factory lx bars?

alternatively, has anyone installed a gun storage box to the roof and used it as storage? I think you could attach to the Yakima mighty mount?

I have a Thule XL on factory bars, but it just BARELY touches when lifting the gate. I believe it’s the 18 size.
Smaller than that, I think you’d be ok.
I plan on putting LC rails on since I already bought the Thule

That’s right, it’s definitely a tight fit. I have the Thule XXL and the spoiler bangs up against it when opening the hatch. It will not open all the way. I had the XXL laying around though so I am living with it but getting a new roof rack soon so that issue will be fixed.

I remember someone saying they extended the slots to the rear and were able to get some kind of box to clear.. I know some boxes have more involved slot systems for weatherproofing.

Certainly depends on the unit itself. My rear adjustments on the Thule have a little room. It's my front section that is totally maxed out and cannot move forward anymore. I just need like one more inch, but it's a no go.
