This was a "challenging" trip for me. Garrett was back in the hospital most of the week, just got sent home Saturday late afternoon. He's got a kidney problem. They're not sure what it is but I'm raking him to a specialist on Thursday.
I almost flew home Thursday in the very early morning but decided to stay. His mom was with him and other than emotional support for my little man there was very little I had to offer. I was under the impression that they were going to keep him longer so I figured we'd get home Sunday night and then I'd take over duties at the hospital for the next week. Does that make me a bad dad?
Anyhow, a lot of uncertainty and not a lot of sleep this entire week. Thx for all the well wishes and prayers. Means a lot to me.
Other than that, the event couldn't have been better. Food, people, weather, ...... Were all great. I somehow ended up with the "best driver" award. No clue how cause I can name at least ten people ( bossman, woody, Shane, ........ ) who kick my ass. But I'm stoked to have gotten it.
Speaking of "getting it", the buggy did awesome. I tried a bunch of silly lines and nasty obstacles. Got denied on a few, flopped once, managed to drive out of 2 or 3 near-flops and other than that the rig kicked ass. Wish my winch ( front suck-down ) hadn't broken on Friday morning first thing but that was the only issue with the buggy so I can't complain.
Driving thru Las Cruces NM right now. It's 2.22am and we've got 22 hours of driving ahead of us.
Can't wait for the 2013 roundup.
