x2 on the no dog rule. That sucks. My golden retriever loves camping and wheeling.
$150 bucks for the event, 10hr drive each way, AND i can't bring my dog, hmmmmm.

it's not a good place for dogs. i know 1st hand. a few years back at one of the events that K-rocks hosted my wife insisted we take he dog. so i called Randy and asked him if i could bring here dog. he really did not want dogs there but he gave in. so with dog in tow we set up camp. the next day we (wife & I. no dog. dog could not be on the trails. rules) headed out to wheel at some point some one came up to me and asked if i had a dog at camp. i told him NO but my wife does. well the dog got bit by a rattle snake and died. we loaded up in the buggy and went back to bury the dog.
if she would of only listed to me when i told her that dogs are not aloud maybe here dog would still be here.

there was a different time when me and some of the guy i wheeled with went up to Gilmore to wheel & one of my friend had to bring his (CAMPING & WHEELING DOG). well we get there on friday set up camp and head out in the morning to wheel. mid day were doing one of the harder trail out there. James and his wheeling dog get ready to do this part of the trail. dog in front passenger seat truck bucks to the right then left then right dog gets thrown out & the rear tires runs over the dogs leg. well guess what we have to rush to help the dog into the truck so James can hall ass to a vet. if he was going fast a long the trail he would of ran the dog over and killed it.

i say there is a time and place for dogs and wheeling is not one. i do own a big dog and i like him but i would never take him on a wheeling trip. now if i was just going camping then yes.

so don't get up set about not being able to bring the dog. cause maybe it's for the best.
just my 2 cents

That isn't a new policy. It was implemented by Randy and Shain 2 years ago in response to numerous complaints from campers about unleashed dogs running amok through campsites, stealing food, knocking over tables, pissing on tents and vehicles, crapping around tents, and in a couple of cases chasing and terrorizing small children. Shain Chapman, the co-owner of Katemcy Rocks, is also the county attorney. He became concerned about liability issues stemming from property damage and potential injury to children. Unfortunately this was caused by a few irresponsible dog owners, but everyone ended up being penalized.

There's a second reason for the dog ban. As you may know, Katemcy Rocks was moved to a new location last year. The property is leased. There is free roaming livestock on the property and the owner has a provision in the lease that says no dogs are allowed on his property. According to Randy, that was a non-negotiable issue.

Sorry you can't bring your dog, but don't let that keep you from attending. It's a great event and this year we may even get through it without a hurricane tearing the place apart.

And lets not forget Round Up '09 when the guys from Red Line had their Lab pup with them on the water fall trail, truck flopped over on it's passenger side, dog attempted to escape out of the passenger window of the 55 and nearly got crushed... would have been a sad day:whoops:. Justin (I think) had just said his wife bought him the dog and if didn't come home with it, he may as well have stayed in Texas....
