it's that time again........

this years' event will be at deer valley CA, just like the last several years. the site has worked out very well and is big enough for everybody.
looks like i'll try to go up on friday sept 2nd and the event is officially from saturday sept 3rd thru monday sept 5th.
as always, this is a freebie, no need for sign-ups or registration, fees or anything along those lines. just show up with your land cruiser, does'nt have to be a 45, along with your camping gear and food and have a good time.
the raffle will be sunday evening, everybody who drives a cruiser to the event gets a ticket. i've aready contacted a lot of vendors and the prizes are starting to trickle in. got a couple of boxes full of stuff already. if you can bring a prize along with you, that would be greatly appreciated. cash raffle will be help right after the raffle on sunday night, winner gets 50%, the rest goes to the "Friends of the Rubicon" foundation as always.
hope to see a lot of you guys up there again!

georg @ valley hybrids

ps: i'll post proper directions in the next couple of days.

Hey George,
would love to do this run with you guys but, we're unsure of our 80 and 60 making it.

I've read a lot of things on this trail and some say you need sliders and a locker. Are these definite things to have? The 80 is on 33s and I think the 60 will be also.

The driver of the 60 is a noob if that makes a difference:D Also, can we bring the dogs?

a rig on 33s should be able to do the trail from the 88 side to the campsite unscathed. Nothing crazy on that section. Last time I was there a stock FJC was on the trail and doing fine. It is the section from the stream crossing to the hwy 4 side that is much more challenging.

You will have no issues getting in to the camp from 88. Many stock vehicles, 80's, 60's, fj cruisers...etc... no problemo.

DON'T try it from highway 4.

Ok, very good to hear.

Thanks for the input and clarity.

The Weiss Family will be there.. Look forward to camping with you guys!

The 45 is not yet ready but at least I can say I've been working on it. :D

I'm going to try to be there in the 40.

thanks for the replies guys!

as chris mentioned, the trail is very mild if you're coming in from the hwy88 side. i decidedto hold the event there fo many reasons, here are some:
1) away from the crowds
2) beautiful scenery
3) great campsite and room for everybody
4) very mild trail going in so a stock 45 can do it without the risk of mechanical or cosmetic damage
5) opportunity for more built rigs to have some fun also

this event is very family oriented. bring the wife and kids as well as the dogs. try to keep the later on the leash around camp. i you want to put a leash on your wife and/or kids then have at it. good luck to ya!

bring swim trunks, the lake is not far an the stream is right there. bring a fishing poleas well, lots of smaller trout around.

LOL, that's just funny right there.... don't think I'm gutsy enough to try it though.

I have no doubt this will be another great event. Everything Georg does is first class.

I'll be sending some raffle items.

I'll be there with the boys.

Peter

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. :)

Georg, I was getting nervous not seeing the FJ45 Run 2011 thread a couple weeks ago when I looked. We'll see you up there

Hey Skillet, you gonna make it this year?

I'm in. Gonna ask for an extra day off and see if I can get up early this year. I will see what I can muster for the raffle.

See you all there!

Georg,

I'm bringing an aluminum dutch oven and a case of wine for the auctions.

Peter

very cool everybody, thanks in advance. should be a great turn-out. i cant wait.....

We are planning on being there again this year, the 45 is in the midst of open heart surgery and I am optimistic it will be ready!! The kids cant wait for "Kid wheel Saturday"!! Got the bolts in the mail today and installed (Thanks again), we will be bringing stuff for the raffle and a few Fosters for you Georg :)

bad news - no time for shirts this year. i'm up to my eyeballs in work, a divorce, trying to keep my life in order.......yak yak yak.
good news - i have every intention of actually hosting a "stocker run" on sunday morning. want to take all the 45s and whoever else feels like it up to the pass via the dirt road that heads past both blue lakes. very scenic, easy trail and a great spot for the kids to get some driving time.
