Ok guys and gals, it is that time of the year already. We are opening the floor for nominations for our club officers for the upcoming year. We will be accepting nominations through the first week of August, and will have elections the second week of August. The positions to be nominated are

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Events Officer
(Safety Officer and TLCA rep will be handled by elected officers respectvely)

Guys we need nominations, or we won't have officers. The bulk majority of the current BOD will not be serving a second term...
 
i vote Gabe for Events officer...all the dude does at work is browse mud!!!

all he's done on vacation is browse mud!

Do we have job descriptions for each post? Might make it easier for those nominated to decide to accept.
 
Elected Officers
President: Basically run the show. Working with all other officers making sure that all the bases are covered. A good president should be willing to listen to it's members needs and make leadership decisions.

Vice President: Assist the President in doing all the above. Fill in when the President is not available and to make club decisions pending approval from the president.

Secretary: Will be responsible for making sure the President and Vice President have not forgotten anything. Primarily, sending out new member packets, tracking member dues dates, selling and maintaining merchandise.

Treasurer: Steen has done a great job of keeping us in line (unlike other entities we've heard of recently). Steen has already stated that he will make the transferring of info to the new Treasurer very easy. I've seen his spreadsheets and he is very organized when it comes to money.

Events Officer: Responsible for scheduling our events and making sure everyone is informed and included. This is not a position to be taken lightly. One of the most important roles in our club to keep members engaged. But done right it can be a very rewarding position.

Appointed Positions
Safety Officer: Someone to help make sure we stay safe during club events and has a good understanding of recovery methods.

BOD Delegate for TLCA: Willing to sit in on monthly conferences with all TLCA chapters and officers. Work with the TLCA to help promote our club as well as provide a vital link between UC members and TLCA. Help promote the benefits of being a TLCA member. Give UC feedback to issues going on within TLCA.

Can TLCA BOD Delegate be broken off into it's own position where it is only responsible for attending meetings and reporting to UC - nuttin' else as in no BOD votes, events, or other responsibilities? I have very little time to give but would like to give what I can.

Don't be intimidated. It's a gratifying job, not nearly as time consuming as you might think, especially now that GSMTR is no longer a UC event (probably less than the other roles), and really hard to screw up.

Everything you need to jump right in is already set up. I promise to make the transition easy and painless and help whenever needed if you have questions.

After 3 years, I really need to focus on some other things for a while. Daughter will start looking at colleges this upcoming year, her year round VB, potential for a job change etc... Just time to take a break.

I was trying to make it an appointed slot so that they wouldn't have to vote or do anything like that. I think just the main 5 should be the voting members of the BOD. With that said, I think the TLCA rep could be broken off, just like safety officer and what not...
 
Also feel free to self nominate, I don't see a problem with that. If you are willing to step forward and take on a role in the leadership of the club, I don't see a bit of a problem with that...

eventhough for treasurer. Dohcdelsol for prez. As long as he doesn't have an event where we ride donkeys istead of our cruisers!!!
 
I second the DOHC for Prez nom. Anyone that can swap a diesel in a Cruiser on a weekend can run this rag-tag bunch with his eyes closed.

TLCA BOD = 1 meeting per month on conference call plus reporting back to UC = easy breezy.

Tres = I'm responsible for the club's finances... yikes!!!

TLCA BOD = Mandatory, pre-scheduled meeting that will bore you to tears. Create multi-page detailed powerpoint presentations monthly. Schedule time to take the BOD through all of the pertinent information. Followup on all of the questions the BOD will have, and report back.

Tres = play with other peoples money on your schedule while drinking a DogfishHead 90 Minute on the deck... (I know how it works)

Easy choice!
