Hi fellas, I’m new here to the community.
I have a 2009 200 series Sahara, a while ago the battery’s went flat in the car when I was on holidays and I come back and swapped out the batteries and I realised the tailgate doesn’t open anymore. I have no reverse camera or number plate light, I’ve check over the fuses and look for a tailgate module but I’ve had no luck with it and it’s driving me insane. Has anyone ran into issues like this before ?
I tried swapping out the button on the back of the top door to open and close and still nothing.

Cheers

So after some more investigating I’ve found that I have power to some things at the back ie: tail lights, door latch, number plate lights.

I’ve checked on another 200 exact same model and the button to open and close the boot doesn’t have any voltage or reading on it. What should be my next move

Hi mate, welcome to Mud! Have you checked the battery in the key fob? Mine wouldn't open with the button until I replaced the batteries in the fob and then voila! it worked again. It was a hunch that worked, give it a go.

Very strange, fuses is the only thing I can think of…. Does it electronically lock/unlock?

Hi mate, thanks heaps. I’ve changed the fob and it still doesn’t open. I’ve checked on 200 that I have and there’s power on that switch but none on the other that won’t open. I’ve checked for fuses and I can’t find any that control the tailgate

Hi,
Check you wind shield (yes wind shield) for leaks. open out the two kick panels.
you could have water dripping down and resulted in corroding the pins on the connectors (drivers side) or fuses (passenger side).
had a problem with a rear power window and that was all it was.
