2009-10 Tacoma Issues?

Usually I'm in the FJ6X's area, but figure'd that I can post over here as well...since I've got a question.

Are there any issues regarding the 2009-10 production years of the Toyota Tacoma to be concerned with? The Mrs. is interested in the 4 door short bed with TRD Off Road Pkg, V6, 4x4, and is considering either the 5 sp auto or 6 sp manual transmissions. Heard there was an AT issue, but havent heard it to be substantiated nor which AT (ie: 4 or 5 spd).

Seems like the issue of a diesel is still a mixed bag as to when/if...

It's pretty early in the 2009 model year to have any new issues pop up. I have not heard of any myself. It seems as though there have been some minor changes in the electrical/ECU arena (some mods that you can do with a 2005-2008 Tacoma can't be done the same way in 2009). But the main drivetrain and mechanics are the same as the 2005+ years. So other than some early 2005 rear diff issues, the latest Tacomas have proven strong and reliable. Some 2005's also had cracking/collapsing of the motor mount on the frame, but some time in 2006 that particular section of frame was reinforced.

The only AT issue I heard was that there was some strange downshifting that took some getting used to.

I wouldn't hesitate to jump into one of these trucks if that's what your wife wants.

my 09 seems to be all it's cracked up to be aside from some vibrations im getting in the steering wheel at about 55-60mph. im taking it in in the next week or so to try and get it figured out. didn't do that from the begining. also sometimes feels as if there is play in the ujoints in the drive shaft...
