leave it to the troll to turn a 08 thread into a 80 vs 100 flamebait

Styling of the 08 is a disappointment. The details are clunky and awkward. The lines are already dated looking and they did not handle it very well for a large suv imo.
As w/ Toyota, I'm sure it leaves a better impression in person but still... styling wise- mediocre.

For style, the euro and domestics have it all over the 08 but the interior is quite nice (as usual for Lexus). The problem is, in this market, the curb appeal matters quite a bit but I'm sure many will buy just because it is a Lexus and not a domestic 7 passenger brand.

Once again, I'm sure that this series will offer many many many improvements over the older series. People will buy them for many reasons. Me, if I bite, it will be because it will again be the best built SUV on the planet.

Troll signing out! :D

(FirstToy.....you gotta either grow up and/or get a loan for a new 100 or LX570. It might be the only way you can quit being so irritated at my negative 80 comments. Once you own new, you'll never go back! The quality of the new is just so much better! My comments about the 80's hold merit. Your personal attacks against me do not. :D )

It looks ok. I am not overally impressed. In my opinion, The RR and RRS are still the best looking SUVs available. Maybe Toyota could put a RR shell on a 130 series chassis and then we would have the best of both worlds.

Also, the interior materials look cheap compared to the LX570. May just be the pictures. I really hope that Yota is using the real looking fake wood in the LC and not the fake looking fake wood. The pictures here appear to show fake looking fake wood.

get over yourself, it's not your world. i dont need a loan, i had a new toyota suv and got the 80 instead because that is my passion.

you can be negative all you want, it's your way troll

Read in the new Four Wheeler that the 570 has a poor breakover and less ground clearance. It's possible the body hangs lower in the rocker area in order to increase internal size. Not sure this new rig will be a "wheeler" or not. Will need to see in person before passing judgement.

Looks like a real nice luxury SUV. But I don't like the fact that it's called a Land Cruiser. Wish they'd import real Land Cruisers to the states (i.e.: post #18) and keep this going in the Lexus bloodline. Leave the "Land Cruiser" out of it.

But I digress, it is a real Land Cruiser, since it says "Land Cruiser" . . .

That's what some folks said about 80's when they came out. Time made those folks eat their words.

That's what some folks said about 100's when they came out. Those folks have been eating their words too.

Can't pass judgement on the LX580. If the guts are the same as the 100 (and the wheelbases are identical) one might be able to slap a 100-lift on it the day they come out and they will wheel, no doubt, and with a 4-lo cruise control system (which I would luv).

I know that I, me, John won't eat my words. The LX570 will be another Land Cruiser no doubt.

WTF?! Who? Not me. I still say that about the 100 series! Nothing has changed there! :flipoff2:

The 100 series was the start of the decline (excluding the 105). IFS, Bleck . . .

I couldn't agree more. I own a RRS and it is sweet. I think the Fj60 looks better than this.
I thinkthe FJ60 is the best looking wagon out of all the modern cruisers.
I almost picked up another one but the wife told me I have to finish of my FJ40 1st.

I almost got a clean 60 for a song.

If we're talking about looks-only? I think the LR Discovery II or III is the all time best looking SUV. I do not like the New RR or the LR3. The RRS is nice...agreed...but a Disco or 100 is my style. If Rover's weren't so unreliable I'd have a Disco II in my stable. They can wheel like mad too!

So, a new forum opens and it takes Shotts what, .000001 sec to start fishin?:shotts:

Looks like he even got jumpers, nice work!:D:lol:

FWIW: After the 2008's are released, I will be looking to pick-up a used 100 series for the :princess: when the prices start to drop. Eventually there will be some nice bargains.

Just had to post this again

I can Dream :crybaby:

You can dream but those are simply updated '70 series NOT the new series. The updated '70 series is out already in the privileged parts of the world (I was wheeling with one a few months ago), we still get the mall cruisers.

what did they do to the front end? poor 70... it's starting to look 3rd world generic...the fender'd older style is much better

are these the HJ series? just wondering if they sell them in canada or south america? kinda reminds me of a late 90's 4 runner face attached to aHJ body. still looks awesome, would not mind owning one

Not available in Canada but readily available in Central America. About $35000 for one new with the turbo-diesel, 5 speed lockers and winch. I was wheeling with one about 2 months ago in Guatemala! It's enough to make you want to strangle the marketing guru's at Toyota Canada and Toyota USA for not bringing these in!!
