Just recieved the new LX brochure and it is pretty impressive. It shows lots more of the vehicle than the National Geographic/LC brochure does. I was looking pretty closely at the running boards and they seem to be more "integrated" than the ones on the LC. It is hard to tell exactly whether they are easily removed or not without getting up close and personal with it. It seems odd to me that they didn't at least go with a set-up like on the Navigator where they come out automatically when a door is opened then retract when the door closes. It would make for a much "cleaner" design I would think. An even cleaner design would be to have no running boards in the first place !!Anyway, the brochure is very encompassing about the vehicle. The interior looks to be truely first class and alas, I will refrain from repeating the obvious concerning the exterior.

LX running boards are integrated. LC Running boards are just hanging there. If you think about it, would you want to beat up your retracting running boards offroad?

Personally, I would rather there not be any running boards at all !! At least the LC's are easily removed without any "damage" to the vehicle...The LX's might be just as easily removed as the LC's...I really do not know. All I have to go on is the comparison pictures between the two different models. I compaired the 100 series LC and 100 LX running boards and the 100 LX's looked somewhat similar to those on the 200 LX so maybe it's no big deal like the 100 LX's were...Until someone gets a 200 LX and starts tinkering with it we just will not know for sure. I detest running boards, pure and simple. They have absolutely no place on any proper SUV, IMO !!

Nope, the LX570s boards are gonna be a bitch. The LC boards I guess were designed to be removed.
