OK guys, I’m sending out this blurb as in past years to anyone for whom I have an email address and think might be interested in joining us for the 2007 pig run. This is the sixth year for the “event”, such as it is. This year is as informal as ever but surely will be as enjoyable as any of the past events. Seeing a lineup of FJ55’s in the heart of the country’s rust belt is an inspiring sight for most land cruiser enthusiasts. We’re hoping to have more than a dozen pigs in attendance this year, so do your part and get your oinker to Rausch Creek next month!!!!

We’ll be running Rausch Creek Friday August 3 and Saturday August 4. I for one am probably camping at Camp-A-While, right off exit 112 of interstate 81. Rausch Creek is off exit 107 of I-81. We’ll be meeting in the staging area at Rausch Creek around 7:30AM on Friday, and getting the pigs together for a group shot by about 8AM if all goes well. Anyone who knows me will appreciate that I intend to have my group ready to head out onto the trails by about 8:30AM. Saturday will just be everyone meeting in the staging area at 8Am to get groups together for the day’s trail ride.

Chris Bashore is possibly gonna have some pig run T shirts available- no promises here- but I must say he did a helluva job on the last bunch he did in 2005. let’s all keep our fingers crossed on this one!!!!

Feel free to forward this message to any of the club forums- Gotham City, and any of the clubs from Virginia or wherever, whose members might be able to attend. Any four wheel drive Toyota is welcome to attend and participate, and as usual we’ll form groups for trucks with similar capabilities and expectations. By this time a lot of us are getting quite familiar with Rausch Creek and there is sure to be enough group leaders as required. The pig run is a fun event- no pressures, just a few days on the trail with other folks who enjoy their Toyotas and appreciate the rarity of the iron pig. Send any comments or questions to me directly or else to Jeff Dozier. The Appalachian Group is running this year’s event and Jeff is the president of the group.

I look forward to hearing from anyone planning to attend- let’s make this a fun weekend next month!!!!!! Yours in the interest of the iron pig……………..Gary S

Can't wait for the '07 ECPR. Lots of great pigs showed up last year. Hopefully we have another good showing this year. Nice rigs, good people, everyone should try to attend and support the PIG and ALCA.

Well fuel delivery issues willing pigwald will be there for some paking lot poser shots...again. Had to put another fuel filter in it on the way back from CMCC and the weber is acting up too...now dumping fuel in...musta sucked in some crud (I've been there with it a few times now). So, I decided to yank the Aisin off the 60 and put it on pigwald...I am just waiting for some new studs, its all ready to bolt down and connect up...oh and a few more vac port caps too.

Pig run this week

OK who all from this club will be at the pig run? I am hoping to be at either Camp-A-While or Rausch Creek to camp Thursday and Friday nights. My grandson was gonna accompany me so I figured on CAW but he can't make it- so Rausch is a possibility. We'll see what happens Thursday night, eh? I'm for a few cold ones at either or both locations, anyway.............

On the definite no list is Steve Colavito (recent club member) and Jeff LaCarruba. Jeff was at every other pig run and will be sorely missed. His use of the gas pedal to get through some otherwise formidable obsrtacles always amazed me. Gary Webster who made the firts pig run won't be there, either, at least not in his pig- he sold it last year to a fellow from Oley. Gary still has a 77 FJ40 he bought new and an 89 FJ62 that he bought new so maybe we'll see him in the 40..............

I'll email Shayne Edmunds to see if he can make it- his 55 is the real nice blue and white rig that joined us last year. The truck was in light white primer when Shayne wheeled with us at either the first or second pig run a few years back. Shayne lives south of Camp Hill somewhere and runs Checkered Past in Red Lion and Neato Burrito in New Cumberland.

Looking back on some photos from the original pig run we had five 55's- Joe Mylie in his green truck, Shayne in his primered 77, Gary Webster in his white 69, Jeff in his brown and white 73, and me in my old white 72 that Brian Koerner ended up buying. Fellow club member Matt Reed was our capable trail leader at Paragon that day, and there was also a tan'/yellowish 40 with us- don't remember whose rig it is. I believe there were some other igs too, like Matt's buddy Rob in his gold 4Runner and some others- I'll bring along what photos I have to share with the group.

In any event I'll see what emails I have at work when I get back there Monday and I'm sure this year's pig run will be an event to remember. See everyone Friday and Saturday if not before................Gary

Am trying to make the Pig Run, but I have this Anniversary thing to do...We'll see what happens:confused:

I am out, we leave for a vacation tomorrow.

I hope you guys all have a good time and I really hope we have a good showing from the club.

I'll be there for the Saturday festivities. Will likely drive up as opposed to trailering.

I'm hoping to get the wife out with me, too. Anyone else bringing their wives or female significant other???

Here is the latest from Lynn at Rausch....

"Make sure everyone 16 and older signs the campers check-in sheet up on the front porch.

Truck and trailers have to camp up top in the staging plateau. That may sound not too cool, but as more and more people try it, they're finding it's the same as camping down below. We have a couple porta-potties and washstand up there now.

The area we used across the street temporarily is now off limits to us. Not sure if you even know where that was, but it's no longer for us to use.

The tent areas are the same as always. Remind everyone to plan on packing out your trash, and not to burn icky stuff in the campfires. We have two washstands now but a lot of people are dumping their trash next to the small trashcans that are meant for the towels people use to dry their hands. You guys are usually pretty cool, but I need to mention it to everyone.

I'll have the office open Friday morning 8 to 10 a.m.. I have a meeting with Bruce at 7 a.m. somewhere else on the property, so if you show up earlier than 8, don't panic that I'm not around, I'll have the office open at 8 a.m."

So far, you're the only one that was wheeling Friday, Jeff. I haven't seen anyone other than me commit to wheeling Friday. Some hopings, but no for sures. Hope I don't have to wheel by myself Friday...

Looks like my arrival will be Friday either late afternoon or early evening.
Hope to have room at Rausch to drop the tent!
