Hi all, I am in Costa Rica, I am NOT going into remote areas, but live on a steep mountain, sea level to 2000 ft elevation in a 10 minute drive. Have owned Land Cruisers and Patrols (and Xterra and Trooper, etc),

But in the market for something that has good 4x4 capability, room for 7, looks "newer" and has the power needed to get up that mountain and good 4x4 when I need to take it off road, mostly internal farm roads of my project. Main thing is, I have no knowledge if the 2006 Pathfinder is really just for looks and the highway, or is a strong truck and offroad as well

I bought 20 of them in Kuwait for use in Iraq, along with 15 Prados and 35 Hiluxes. The only vehicles that gave me more problems than the Pathfinders were the Chevy 2500 trucks we used for convoy escort. The Pathfinders were nowhere near as durable mechanically, electrically, or structurally as the Toyotas.

You name it, it went wrong with those vehicles. If I knew then what I know now, I would've never bought a single Pathfinder.
