Announcing the 2006 Green Country Cruisers Poker Run.

It will be held Saturday, APRIL 1st, 2006 in the beautiful scenery of NW Arkansas around Cass. We'll gather around 8:00 at Turner's Bend (www.turnerbend.com)

We'll have lots of great prizes, including an awesome Ramsey Patriot winch for the grand prize!!

We've held several club Poker Runs in this area and the trails here are simply awesome! Last year we encountered several water crossings, waterfalls, steep trail climbs, mud pits, and just about anything else an off-roader could ask for!

Don't forget about the Pre-Run, too! On Saturday, February 11th, 2006th, we're going to scout out some trails on a Pre-Run, and anyone is welcome to attend this as well. Pre-Runs are great fun! Bring your GPS to help get the group back to civilization!

There are several places to lodge or camp in the area, and space may still be available at Lizard Spring's Cabins for both dates, even if it is floor to put a sleeping bag.

Contact randyunderwood@hotmail.com to see if there's still room at Lizard's Springs.

Make Plans Now To Attend These Trail Runs In Beautiful Northwest Arkansas!!!

More information will be posted on our club's website at www.greencountrycruisers.com

Mark Keily has posted the Cass, Arkansas February 11th pre-run video/slideshow on the following page at our club's website:

http://www.okoffroad.com/gcc/events-pokerrun-06pre.htm

Click on the "movie reel" icon to stream the video, which is at a bit higher resolution than previously sent out.

Also, this page will be updated with the most current information regarding the upcoming April Fool's Day Poker Run in Cass, Arkansas.

See ya!

I went to the Poker run last year and did fine with my BJ42. Some of the trails had some limbs sticking out, but since I was behind that HEEP, most of the brush was destroyed.:D

The trip to Cass is about six hours for me and I was thinking about taking my 80 series for the better ride. Is the route this year going to be a little wider/less brushy? The 80 is my DD and I'd rather not scrape it to pieces.

Thanks

Just make sure that you get behind a heep again ;)

I don't know if you were there last year, but it wasn't just any Heep. This thing had huge tires and chewed up stuff in an amazing fashion. One of the few good times to be behind one. :D

We did the Pre-Run exclusively with FJ40's, and there were a few tight turns, and some low-hanging branches, and some brush. The FJ40's did well with this obviously. However, with good driving techniques in an 80 (or 60), you could possible minimize scratches.

Weather ?

Ok! now that we know we have a place to sleep what else do we need to know? Looking at some of the pictures on the web site looks a little wet, not good for us with out a top :) but just wondering what the temps range form this time of year (I hope not snow)

It should be pleasant weather. Last year's run was in near artic conditions (it was in January). I think that barring rain, we should be in good shape. The weather report a few days before the event will give us a good idea of what will happen.

WOW! It was a GREAT Day and had a SUPER Turnout!!!

The April 1st GCC Poker Run was better than ever, and the trail was probably the best one chosen so far for any of our Poker Runs, which was perfectly suited for both stock and modified vehicles alike.

For those who missed it-- sorry you couldn't make it-- but you REALLY DID miss out on a great day of wheelin' in the beautiful NW Arkansas scenery! The waterfalls were flowing really good!

There were around 20 vehicles attending, including plenty of FJ40's, a BJ42, an FJ62, a couple of 80-series, and a few *eeps, but no FJ Cruiser's in sight for this one.

There were a few minor mechanical problems on the trail, and a busted valve-stem on a rig, but no other major problems, except for an overheated 8274! Whose was that? ;>)

After a long day on the trail (and a beautiful day of weather), we headed back towards town to gather for the Poker Run prize giveaways, and to raffle off the big prize-- the Ramsey Patriot Winch, which was won by Chris Brum of Oklahoma City. Congratulations Chris!

Definitely a GREAT run. I agree with the trail choice, it was perfect. We took a lot of pictures but we seem to have miss-placed the camera. Did anyone happen to see it at the raffle drawing/ wrap up? It still may turn up when I clean out the Cruiser but so far we can't find it. Its a Nikon digital in a red and black case.

Later,
Keith
