I have a 1hz in a 97 fzj80 runs smoothly. The 1hz was made/manufactured in 2006 according to the date stamp on the valve cover. I have read several threads on 1hz bottom end bearings being soft and having issues on older motors. The question is what year did Toyota change there BEB to something more robust. Or is a 1hz produced in 2006 effected with known BEB problems?
I am going to be installing a g turbo on the motor and am wondering if the added pressure will be an issue with the BEB. I know that the Pistons in the 1hz motor are thinner than the 1hd_t... ect... Being a newer 1hz with the redesigned oem pistons, are they any more robust than the older style pistons, do they handle being turbocharged better?
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks
