I have a 2004 LX470 , and the stepper motors in the cluster have failed , specifically on the fuel and voltage gauges. I ended up finding an instrument cluster from a 2005 LX470 with an almost identical spec to mine (no night-view, etc. ) and popped it in. The "new" cluster works great - all he gauges work perfectly, it's so nice to have a working fuel gauge again. The problem is that many of the malfunction lamps are now lit ( maintenance , abs, AT Oil temp, etc) I used my Techstream to scan for any codes, and there are none. I opened up the back panel of the 2 clusters, and compared part numbers on all the chips, and they are nearly identical. only one of the chips had a slightly different part number. I also found one little chip that can be easily swapped over (see pic) , I tried the new cluster even after swapping this little chip, same problem. Anyone have any ideas of why this could be happening ? I doubt there is anything i can do, but I thought I would ask

Do all the same lamps stay when the truck is running? My 05 (stock) shows the lamps while the key is on and the engine is off. That might be a stupid question though.

I don't have enough familiarity with the dash to do anything other than speculate. Sounds like something you'd have to start reading signal outputs to troubleshoot.

yes, the majority of the lamps stay lit . I am really surprised, i thought for sure the 04 and 05 would be interchangeable. I have a feeling that this unit is "coded" to the ECU and cannot be interchanged
