Will this work on a 99? I tried it and it doesn't seem to work. Mine doesn't lock or unlock. Also, Step 1 says put the lever into P? It's already in P. Basically I'm turning the key to ON and then locking my doors for 5 seconds and nothing. The parking brake is on.

Any insight?

I battled with that door lock deal for a long time. This is the only time I will say this, take it to the dealership and for $30 bucks they can configure it any way you want.

You are going to just have to push the button everytime, doesn't work on the earlier trucks. I believe it was 2003+ only.

Do you have to set two modes. That is, do I have to pick either mode 1 or 2 for when to LOCK my doors and then pick mode 3 or 4 as to when to UNLOCK my doors. I'd want to get to a mode 2 and 4 combo.

Thanks in advance

2004 LX470 ...... I've tried 10+ times to do the unlock when put in park thing. I'm usually good at this stuff but this one has me baffled. Iv'e followed the instructions in my manual but still no luck. I'll try again after reading this thread... if no go it's off to the dealer.

Also, for anyone in the future....just use Techstream. Instant gratification.

There are quite a few options when you can access the ecu. I used my Matco Maxme to turn off my drl's without hacking into the system. I programmed it to lock after driving off and to unlock in park. I also delayed the amount of time before the doors lock after unlocking it from the remote to one minute - irritates me when it locks back before I can get to it when I leave the keys in the house. One other thing I programmed was to unlock all doors pushing the remote button only once. There are other features available as well.

Your timing has to b spot on. When it says "5 seconds" you have to be EXACT. Took me a few tries when I first did it. Very frustrating!

I had been baffled for a couple weeks and multiple attempts using the manual on my '04. ^ This did the trick for me, mode 4. Strange but also impressive that exactly 5 seconds is the ticket. Thank goodness I avoided a trip to the dealer, and thanks to this thread!

It worked for me as well, great feature when you're pulling kids out the back for sure.

Spent about 30 minutes attempting this, I ended up just turning the key and pushing the button almost at the same time. 10 seconds my ass. Hope others figure it out!

Like @NorCalFJ100 said above, all of these functions and more are easily reprogrammed quickly with a Techstream cable/software.

Hah! I read the manual and messed around with this thing forever. But I got it, thanks everyone!!!!!! and use this as a bump! I set the parking brake, turned the key to on and immediately pushed down on the unlock button on the driver's door. I counted five seconds, released it and it worked!

Moosestache technique worked for me. Took me 15 seconds and saved my sanity which was leaving after only 2 days of owning my 2003. Now I have to see if what I just did keeps the car from locking me out after 30 seconds of unlocking with the key fob.
