2004 sequoia rear hatch ! (1 Viewer)

New to me 2004 Sequoia. I have some work to do on the truck but the rear hatch won't open with the key, I actually can't get the key in the lock.
Is there another way to open the hatch manually ?

The key was never used. The fob should unlock it?

Put copious amounts of blaster penetrating oil in it and patiently use the key to free the tumblers in the lock.

Pop the panel off and pull the cable.

Careful putting penetrating oil into locks, that can lead to other issues.

I would recommend a dry silicon or dry graphite spray for lubing locks.

I've used this with some success on multiple types of locks.

The rear handle on the sequoia sucks, I have broken mine three times, I have gotten really fast at replacing them.

I just replaced the handle and latch assembly on my 05. Easy to do. Lots of videos on YouTube.
