Was there really a rear locker option in 2004? I thought ATRAC eliminated that as an option. The downloadable FSM that we all seem to use here shows it on SA-163. Everything else in the FSM seems to be for NA vehicles.

I know a rear locker was an option in other parts of the world for 2004... like Kuwait. But I don't think they had ATRAC... not even optional. Somebody there can confirm or deny.

Wonder if that was on a 105 or a 100? The manual is definitely for a 100, IFS and all.

Probably for non us vehicles. We have a 2001 100 series here in North America with atrac and one in South Africa that is 2004 with factory front and rear and Center diff locks. It s the solid front axle.

So is it possible to install a rear locker in an ATRAC equipped vehicle, or does ATRAC just remove the need for one?

ATRAC is an electronic system, if you install a locker, it will just make it work less because there will be less slippage.

ATRAC will not interfere on the locked axle.

hijack - BTW after I finish the exhaust testing (finally) this week I am going to be testing a couple methods to defeat ATRAC on the fly (push of a button)... I think I'm close on this. Will post when done. Back to your regular ATRAC working with locker thread.

Since ATRAC only looks at speed differential across the axle, you should be able to wire in a crossover switch to make both channels see the same sensor, no?
