Hello all,

I'm trying to help my father diagnose his 2004 SR5 4Runner issue from ~100 miles away... The truck has had a bad battery for about 2 weeks, not enough power to crank, but finally got the car jumped off and he took it to Auto/Advance/NAPA/somewhere. After they replaced the battery the car started fine, but TRAC/VSC/ABS/CEL lights are all on and the car will not go above 1800 RPM. Additionally, he said the car jerks when going from park to drive. He doesn't have a scanner, but I'm trying to get one to him to get more concrete data. In the mean time, is this as simple as a Zero Point Calibration, or is it possible it could be more involved? Thanks in advance everyone!

Yeah I'd probably start with a zero point calibration as well. I'm not sure what would cause those symptoms though after sitting for only 2 weeks? Maybe rodents chewing through some of the wiring?

OK, so he pulled the codes and he gets a P2118 code. I'm going to have him check the ETCS fuse next.

Just following back up to give final answers here. While my father claimed the fuse tested fine, I realized he looked at the wrong one. The ETCS fuse had, in fact, blown. I'm not sure how it happened, but it had to be when he was jump starting the car at some point.

So, much ado about nothing...

Great resolution!
