I understand the nav stays static. I'm referring to the tape deck underneath. Is that interchangeable?If you have the standard NAV screen, I don't think you'll find too many who have done it. It's not a simple swap because all of your climate and HVAC controls are integrated in the NAV screen.
There was a fund started a long time ago to raise money to pay someone to figure it out.... but I believe the project became too arduous and time consuming to complete.
I think someone posted somewhere that a shop was able to get it done... but it was stupid amounts of $$.
I haven't owned a tape since 1998 and don't want to spend 2015 looking at a tape deck. My current plan is to mount a Ham face plate over the tape deck. I'm currently searching for examples of this being done cleanly. If anyone has done this please post up.
I had a screen for a Yaesu FTM-400R/DE mounted to hide the tape deck. Gary at Mudrac came up with the solution.Any updates on replacing the tape deck?
