I was replacing the ring and pinion on the rear differential with all new bearings. The outer bearing wouldn't fit because the pinion spline and neck are 0.1" larger then the previous pinion. The part came from Toyota. Can anyone explain what may have happened?

The part# is 41110-60A21. Can someone confirm if this is the right part #? 2003 has 4.11 gears right?

Does your flange fits your pinion? I can’t remember the exact details but I think you might have the 29 spline instead of the 27.

So the dealer that I bought the parts from researched it and figured out what happened. The bearings that they sold me was for what the vehicle came with in 2003. The pinion that Toyota now sells is for this application is for 2017->2021. The fix is to buy the pinion bearings for the 2017+, ring slinger and flange. Supposedly it is stronger. It does look stronger. I might post pictures later. If you are just changing the bearings you use the old size bearing. If you change the pinion you use the 2017+ bearings and associated parts.
