Hi Guys, everyone loves a good oil discussion so here is a good one.
I just rebuilt my R151 manual case and will put the t'case together next week. From all the reading I have done I have found that a GL4 synthetic is the thing to run with the synchros - especially with a rebuilt tranny, or for an old worn out tranny the GL4 can make it work much better.
Here is what I found on the debate: http://www.widman.biz/uploads/Transaxle_oil.pdf
So, it looks like GL4 is actually pretty hard to find now, shell has discontinued its line, esso has dino and penziol has synthetic though, dino is 9.99/L and synth is 29.99, cost isn't a factor though.
For years I have used GL4/GL5 in trannys and t cases, but I have never used a true GL4, will be interesting to see the difference if any.
ANyone know how many litres the tcase and r151 tranny hold?
Thanks
Louis
