I searched extensively and cannot definitely find the answer. I bought a 2001 with a tired looking OEM roof rack and would like to know if anyone can tell me if a 2003-2007 OEM roof rack will fit on a 2001 100 series? I cannot find anyone that had done this but some have reported it may be possible.

I appreciate any feedback on this.
 
It would be helpful if I could get measurements from threaded nut insert to nut insert (fore and aft) and compare the two year groups to see if the existing mounts would accommodate the newer rack. I will bail out of the idea if I have to drill new holes in my roof.
 
***Update*** I found out from Cruiserhead05 that an 03-07 rack may fit on a pre 03' 100 series as they did this on a 99' and it apparently fit. I may be able to get a hold of an 04' rack and if I do, I will post the procedure for anyone else interested in upgrading to the newer looking OEM roof rack.

I have a lead on a 2004 rack but will consider if others are willing to get rid of theirs. Thanks for the input on the mounts and trim. Do you know if the windshield trim is a simple clip in deal or something else more complicated?

This is correct.

There are different roof gutter inserts (cosmetic trim) for different racks but the 8 mounts are universal - all years.
 
Do you know what gutter inserts I need if I move from a 2001 to a 2003-2007 rack? Is it one in the front and one in the rear for each side so a total of 4 new inserts? Hoping I don't open up a can of worms here.
