Found some seats out of a sequoia is excellent shape for $100 .....has anyone used these seats in a 97. Fzj.....i have a lx450

Now that is an interesting idea.

Because I have an '01 Sequoia that was totalled in an accident that I use for a plow truck. The driver's seat has an ARMREST and is a very comfortable seat. Both my LC and my Sequoia have manual seats, so that may make it simpler. If this is a practical project without massive rebuilding then I am all in! Thanks for the idea!

I'll get some measurements and pics here in a bit and post them up for anyone else that might be interested.

You need to measure across the frame rails on the bottom of that seat. Post up here and let us know what the distance is. It will be a factor when you go to fab the adapter.

edit: measure the frame rails on the seqoua seat, already know the distance on the 80 seats.

Well, the seat frame rails under the the Sequoia seat are 19 1/2 inches outside edge to outside edge, and look to be a slightly different shape than the LC. My 95 seat rails measure 14 3/4 inches outside edge to outside edge. Seems like an adapter could be figured out and made for that, there's plenty of room to work there. The Sequoia seat itself is 22 inches at the widest part and my LC seat is a little over 20, so that part looks like it should work too. Sure would be nice to have that armrest....

The seat bases mount the same way but are different widths, and most likely the height is different too although I didn't measure it. I don't want to raise the seating height at all but I wouldn't mind the seat going back a bit further. I wonder which would work better, reconfiguring the seat base or making an adapter for the seat rails?

It's about 5 below outside right now so this project is gonna have to wait a while, but spring is coming and I think this is a worthwhile project, for me at least. :grinpimp:

Thanks for the idea! I never would have thought of trying this myself!

Here's the Sequoia seat base:

Someone please do this, so I can see how it turns out! Looking forward to the pictures and bracket fabrication pictures! :)

Width against the door is likely the possible issue.... the OEM 80 seats are under 20 inches wide, I tried a used set of Lexus SC400 seats but they hit the door when I test fit them...

An armrest would be an awesome feature..... keep us posted if you try it - for sure the price is right... !

Step 1: Body lift kit
Step 2: Sawzall
Step 3: Fix new hole
Step 4: New seat!

Yep, chopping out the floors is really not an option with my skills. I think I need to use the bottom bracket of the LC seat and rig up a mount to put the Sequoia rails onto it. I'm pretty sure it can be done, possibly as simply as welding some heavy guage angle iron under the original LC bracket from side to side and bolting or welding the Sequoia rails to the top of the new steel since the heights should be about equal. I don't see how it needs to be any more complicated than that. Seems like doing it that way should make it just as resistant to pulling out as the original seat since it's using the same base.

(I'm not pulling anything apart just yet though, it's still pretty darn chilly up heah and I'll still need the plow for another couple months.) Then I gotta make a reverse bracket to stick the LC seat into the plow truck so I still have something to sit on!

My manual seat is a hair over 20 inches wide, and clearing the extra 3/4 inch per side looks like it won't be a problem at all in my truck. Then again, I have manual seats and a single-lid console, so YMMV. My only glitch is that the Sequoia seat is grey and I have the tan interior, but whatever, the price is right and that is one comfy seat. I can get a cover if it really bugs me.:meh:

And the seats are grey and my lx has tan or "ivory" seats ....i looked at the sequoia seats again today and doesnt look like i wanna tackle the swap it would be a tight fit between console and door
