Lastly, if you have to run a cross over from the tweeter to the main speaker, you probably will have to drill a hole in the plastic housing as I did, shown below. I did run the tweeter wire directly to the factory set up just to get a listen and the sound was fine, but elected to go with the alpine instructions and run it to the main speaker as to no risk damaging the tweeter. So this before you tape and screw the speaker into the plastic housing, to avoid damage. Sorry I didn't put this part in earlier

The speakers sound great. No rattle—I’m really pleased. Thanks again to the contributors on this great forum. Without your help I would have had a much harder time and would probably have ended up breaking something in my door. Sorry for the delays with the post. Hope this is informative to some of you.
Thanks, PA

Are you adding pics?

Seriously?!?!

Are pics not showing? I posted the pics from my ih8mud album and linked them to the post. They are showing up fine for me when I look at the thread. I don't understand why nobody else sees them. I'll try it again tonight when I get home from work. Holy cow, I'm like a monkey flinging poo with this thread. Can anyone see this pic I just added?

Pic? What Pic? Oh, that big one in front of me... yes, we can see this one, but the last string of posts the pics did not come out.

OK, my album was private which might have been the problem-I just made it public. Can you see them now? If not, I'll try one last time later tonight..sheesh.

Looks good, did you document the tweeter install other than the one pic of you holding it upside down?

Yeah, nice work. I just did a speaker replacement on my 80 and the rear door speakers have a similar plastic mount as these. It is good to know what to expect, when I eventually open up the doors on the 100. Thanks!

Looking good so far!

If you have a Gmail account you automatically have a Picasa account. Picasa will host tons of pictures for you and then all you have to do is link to them in your posts. I have single posts out there with 20 large pictures in them. Just remember not to move the pics around in Picasa after you have posted as you will lose the postings on Mud. I created a folder in Picasa called "Pics on Mud" Anything that goes in the folder stays there forever. PM me if you would like more detailed help on pic management (Picasa/IH8MUD).

Yeah, a few pics. Pretty much the same as skshepherd's build with one minor difference.

My old tweeter was screwed into the tweeter bracket versus being glued like skshepherd's. I removed the bracket by it's one screw, then removed the tweeter by removing the nut from the tweeter screw

I re-attached the bracket and used heavy duty double sided tape to attached the new tweeter. I was going to use some glue as well, but the tape worked just fine.

Here's the new tweeter on the bracket

pfran, thanks for the tip, I'll check it out--now that I know how to properly post more than one damn photo.

Looks great. Do you have any pics of the final install with the door panel and tweeter all buttoned up?
