Hi guys.

I have been lurking here for the past couple of months or so after buying a 2001 LC with 94K miles here in Los Angeles. Paid 22K out the door and I'm thrilled. It's everything I wanted including the Thunder cloud exterior. I'm really enjoying reading what everyone has to say about thier rigs. So much passion with all you LC lovers. Obviously I made the right choice. I was particularly interested to read about the 90K maintenance everyone recommends (timing chain, serpentine, water pump etc). I'll probably do that very soon.

My question is about the cabin air filters. I read the forum that explains how to remove the glove box etc. I did all of that and I don't seem to have the access door for the filters on mine. Did they put it somewhere else on the '01 100s or got rid of it altogether.

Also, how do I get ahold of cruiser Dan for replacement parts on the 90K service parts I will need?

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking forward to this forum. I check every time I'm online now. This is a great forum.

Happy trails!!

Hey there and welcome aboard the forum. I'm sure you'll be happy with your new Cruiser.
The cabin filter are inside the evaporator housing "behind the glove box".
Use the search functions up above in the tool bar to look for things like THIS THREAD and you'll find out all kinds of things for your Land Cruiser. Here's the link for Pictures of it being done

Bearclaw,
Congrats...now go get your Silver Star because if you're anything like the rest of us here you're going to need/want it ;)

Oh yea...I almost forgot to salute you on your first thread.......:flipoff2:

I did all this and I don't have the access door/filters as noted in the pics and instructions. I checked several times and the access door isn't there. Is is somewhere else or did they discontinue this in the '01?

To get a hold of cruiserdan go to the "IH8MUD.com Vendor Market Place" forum on the pulldown menu at the bottom of the page.

or click here Getting to cruiserdan...

Some 100s do not have the filter door. I do not know if this means they have no filter at all or if they were relocated to somewhere else in the AC system. Check page three of the A/C Filter Thread and compare what you have to the photos.

There was one other person that had no access door on an '01. Take a picture and post it up for us to check out. The 2003 MY was the year they changed officially but it was mid year so some '03's have it some don't. Supposedly 1 other '01 owner didn't have the door either but we never got to see what he was looking at.

A picture is indeed worth a thousand words.

Oh, welcome to the board!!!!

Mine looks exactly the same as this picture (which I copied from the other post) I guess I don't have any filters!! Oh well.

If anyone has any more info on whether they either a) don't existing at all, OR, b) if this unit is a lifetime filter or c) other - let me know.

Thanks guys.

Yup, if you match that photo then you are out of luck. Sorry to hear about that.

Is the housing behind the cover the same? In other words, can Cruiser Dan tell us if getting the cover with the access panel will allow us to use filters? If the channels are still in the housing, then a cover with the access slots ought to work.

Take a peek behind the cover

If you see the vertical track on the back wall of the box, and on the lower part of the cover below where the door SHOULD have been, then you could try cutting an opening where it should have been, insert filters, and buy the narrow vertical door to pop over the new hole.

If you are familiar with the thread that shows the filter access door, you will recognize the outline of where the door should go, and how it clips over the hole. There are three tabs on the cover in the picture above that are where the door latches on. One tab on the very bottom of the pic, another up on the right side, then another a little farther up on the left side.

Have tracks, door, filters and Dremel, will filter.

A friend's So. CA '01 LC doesn't have the filter door, either. Maybe it was discontinued in '01?

That might be the case. Seems like a good deal of '01's don't have the door.

Just put in filters on my 2000lc. $54 from Lexus.
Go figure!

@2001LC didn't you have a write up somewhere for replacing the cover plate for those who don't have the filter door ?

I'm half way through but can't seem to get the old door to pop out , I must be missing a clip or screw somewhere
