2001 ball joint RECALL

2001 Toyota Tacoma SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT Recall at Automotive.com

My 2001 truck is currently at the dealership having the ball joints replaced at no charge to me.
They're also supposed to be inspecting the frame for rust, we'll see what they find...

I need to ammend my post, my truck did NOT fall under the recall of the ball joints or the frame warranty.

I guess no news is good news.
Still, if you have a 2001, I'd have the ball joints checked (via VIN #) - just in case they need replacing.

Kirk, clarification, your frame is covered under the frame warranty and you should have received a letter from Mr T. Now, since we do not live in the "salt belt" ours will last longer, and probably not need warrantied. The ball joint thing came out years ago, and you would have had a failure by now. My VIN wasn't under it, but I did replace my upper and lower ball joints a few months ago chasing a vibration issue.... which BTW is gone!

I never recieved a letter on the frame or the ball joint issue (but I did on the fuel tank) - just ran across them here so I had them checked out.
Thanks for the links - again! After I have been on here for several yrs maybe I'll be in the 'know' a little better!
