Recently I got to drive my father's 4runner and I was shocked to notice how bumpy it was. My father is 76 years old and I got him the 4runner back in 2001 because he wanted it. I guess he couldn't complain about the harsh ride because he insisted on it against my recommendation.

Anyhow, I'm looking for any remedy you can share or advise to fix its harsh ride.

p.s. 4runner is limited 2wd and has 32K miles riding stock springs and shocks.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Glen

I think the steering wheel stays but just too bumpy after a rough spot. It makes my 94 80 with ome heavies feel like an old Cadillac ride.

I was thinking maybe I can swap springs and shocks with ome's?
I will look into that recall.

Thanks,

Glen

Seems like there is a certain amount of bumpiness from the factory. New struts and springs have helped out some people and I always hear people talk about how the OME's ride better than factory suspension.

Also look into any steering rack play, either in the bushings or the inner tierod ends.

There are some good links to read in the FAQ, click on the link in my sig line and look in the "Steering" section.

The attachment didnt open for me, what year 4runners are affected by the recall I have an 01 and my steering wheel pulls when I hit a bump.
