2000 lx470 key fob works sometimes?

Hey,

I did a search but didn't see anything like this. Let me know if I'm wrong.

So I just bought this lx and the fob works rarely. The red light on the fob lights up when buttons are pressed but it rarely locks or unlocks doors. If it does unlock it only unlocks the drivers. Never gotten it to open all with the double click. Let me know what you think.

Change the key battery? Stupid question but mine would get wonky when the battery started to die. Plus, I've noticed even when the key battery is new, one day it'll work fifty feet away and the next I'll have to be standing ten feet away for it to unlock/lock.

I opened it up and it's pretty jacked up. Cracked, duck tape, stripped screw to get to battery. Think I'll need to get a new one and use this as a spare. Thanks

It may also be a case where the key, while jacked up, is working, but you have a few door lock actuators going bad. Do those doors lock and unlock when you hit the door lock button from inside the car?

They seem to be working fine when I'm inside with the button.

Sounds like the actuators are working. It's bizarre that the key triggers some of the doors but not all of them.
