Hoping someone can answer this weird question.

I just finished upgrading my 87' 60's back seat seat belts to the shoulder harnesses. I was able to do this because the threaded nut in the C pillar existed behind the upholstery. It was just a plug and play with the "kit" from Spector with OEM belts.

Does anyone know if the threaded holes exist under the carpet to install the LATCH hooks that were on the 2002 and later models? I've never taken the seats/carpet out and am trying to save 2 hours of exploration.

This may be a dumb question as I don't know where the LATCH hooks exist in the later models..... Hopefully not built into the seats.

I hope it's not important. They're part of the seat assembly. When you fold up the seats you get clear floor area to work with.

Yeah sorry..... Part of the seat. Under a flap and connected to the entire seat assembly.

I ran mountain climbing type gear and used the rear cargo hooks back in the day when I had a 99 LX for 3 sets of seats for a trip. Super tight and secure; it took some extra equipment and took some time to take seats out but worked great.

There's two different kinds of LATCH anchors used for different reasons/purposes: the lower LATCH anchors in the fold of the rear bench are used for kids up to 40 lbs. Then when they're front facing, there's also an upper LATCH anchor that the kid's car seat can attach to that goes over the top of the seat back. See here for an example.

Supposedly retrofitting a 2001+ rear/middle bench into a 1998 to 2000 is doable. I looked into it but ended up with an '01 specifically due to not wanting to mess with it and getting the LATCH system with the truck.

I don't have the LATCH in my LX, but I'm still able to get the car seats tightly secured. I fasten the seat belt as tight as I can get it, then tighten the belt that goes over the seat to he rear cargo ring. I think the latch system is only good up to 60lbs combined weight of the child and seat.
