Hey folks. I thought you might enjoy a look at the lovely t-case that comes in the 200. Barring any problems, this one should be living in my Tundra soon. Questions, pics, requests?

Cut and paste...
The case has arrived. It dosn't look a whole lot different on the outside, the only noteworthy change is a large grouping of cooling fins cast into the front side and bottom of the case.

Front diff... no differential disconnect.

Inside things are quite different. The center Torsen Differential is a T3 3rd generation piece. It is rear drive axle biased and can supply up to 70% of the torque to rear wheels... that means less understeer.

Center Torsen differential, Torsen is now owned by Toyota.

Interesting...you must really love your Tundra!

JB, that went right over my head... Much less than one would think (or at least what I thought). Retail for a new t-case from Toyota is about $2700. The used one pictured was sourced for $1200. The diff was $750 used, probably not required but what the heck.

Eh, not as bad of a wallet punch as I would have thought! Well, good luck putting 500+ HP to the pavement!

Just curious how are the electronics hooked up for activating the CDL? Were the electronics difficult to get worked out?

There is some physical swapping of transfer case actuator components, the 2WD - 4WD actuator does the same thing as the center diff lock on the 200 case. Some mods to the front ADD are also required. Click on the link above, it has many updates, I can paste it over here, too...if folks are interested?

Hi,
I hope someone can help me getting infos about these JF1A / JF2A / JF3A Tundra/LC200/Sequoia transfer cases. I need the spline count of the input shaft (or transmission output shaft). Maybe someone can make a photo of the front view of the t-case input or the backview of the transmission. Then I can count it by myself and confirm if it fits my custom application.
I already know that the t-cases behind the AB60F transmissons with the 5.7L 3URFE/3URFBE engines (36100-34171 Tundra, 36100-34191 Sequoia) have a 22 spline shaft. What I need is the spline count/photo of the one behind the A750F / A760F/H transmissions with the 4.6/4.7L 1URFE/2UZFE engines. Part numbers are 36100-34161 (Tundra) and 36100-34181 (Sequoia).
Talked to a lot of wreckers/ebay sellers, but nobody was able to send me a photo of it. Spline count was mostly wrong due to missing splines (2 or 3 missing).
Thanks for any help.

Converting a Toyota Hilux pickup truck to full electric drive using a Lexus L110F hybrid transmission (includes 2 electric motors with a short-time peak power rating of about 280kW) out of an Lexus LS600h and retaining 4WD and low range. Because this transmission has a bigger 19 spline output shaft I can't use my VF-type transfer case. The shaft connection looks identical to the Tundra t-cases. Shaft diameter and seal diameter should fit, but not 100% sure about the splines. Anyway, I have to make a housing adapter to mate these together.
I know these transfer cases are bigger and heavier than the VF 4Runner/Tacoma/Hilux series, but would be the easiest way to retain low range and get all drive options (2WD/4WD Torsen center diff/4WD-locked).

I’ve been reading/learning from ih8mud for 5+ years — and got my first 200 platform just a few weeks ago, but never created an account because didn’t feel like I had anything to contribute. KDN165’s Hilux conversion is what got me to create an account and dive headfirst. In my view, this will be one of the coolest projects to follow this year — and will set the stage for the first long-range (200mi+) E-Cruiser conversions using Tesla/Bolt/Leaf battery packs, motors, etc. So just want to applaud this effort and ask KDN165 to document the build as closely as possible bc there are a LOT of fans who are going to be watching/learning from the sidelines. A separate thread might also be worthwhile. Major respect for the plan; can’t wait to see the execution.

@WorldCleanupDay : Thank you for your comment! That's great to hear that people like what I'm doing. I will document this conversion and publish it here. But progress will be slow due to family, work and other things to do.
I was inspired by this conversion on diyelectriccar.com (I know it's not a truck :)):

Actual I'm working together with a guy from the Netherlands to get this drivetrain running.
Also I can confirm the cases behind the A750F and A760H/F transmissions have a 19 spline shift. Found a picture of a Land Cruiser 200 t-case input (36100-60A90 or ...1 or ...2) on a Russian website.

So t-cases out of a 2nd gen Sequoia/Tundra with the 4.6L or 4.7L engine should have the right input shaft.
Now, the next task: Buying a Seqouia 36100-34181 t-case and getting it to Germany!
