Hi! I need to replace the engine in my 2013 Land Cruiser due to various issues. I've found some newer engines from 2015-2018 Lexus LX570 and Land Cruisers. Can anyone confirm if a newer engine from a Lexus or Toyota Land Cruiser will fit my 2013 model? I have a mechanic ready to do the swap, but I need help sourcing the right engine. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m currently in the same boat. What you’ll find is most yards with used 200 Series / LX570 engines won’t sell you anything unless it’s compatible with your VIN. I found my donor on car-part.com

Good luck.

You need to match stuff up with the vin there is so many sub years, different markets where it was sold to really have a definitive answer to your question. Rancho toyota in California is a really good spot for toyota lexus stuff. They even do ends of wiring harnesses also.

I lost my engine 2 years ago b/c a redneck mechanic who said he'd replace my radiator and thermostat forgot to coolant back. 2 weeks later, motor burned up.

I found a great used engine, long block, with under 50K miles from Engine World in California. They import them and stand behind them. I had a Master Toyota mechanic do the work. Labor isn't cheap. Try Engine World.

I found a few engines in some nearby yards, but the guy was a jerk. All I wanted was to inspect the engine, but he insists I pay for it first. I'm in NJ, and my options are pretty limited.

Looks like they don’t have the LC engine in stock right now. I’m getting the work done at my local dealership, and they can source an engine, but their price is way too high compared to what I’ve seen on the market. That’s why I decided to find my own engine and have them install it. They agreed but won’t warranty the work. I’m fine with that, as long as I can find an engine with lower miles.

Try LKQ they warranty everything my friend uses them for his shop if there are any issues they are usually really good about it.

Try these guys they used to be Jerry browns auto they have yard all over the place and ship stuff between them.

Another option is buy one from a reputable seller on ebay that would be my next bet it

Hey. I just had the engine replaced in my 2010 lx570. Head gasket went and I decided to go the used engine route even though my original engine was running fine. I lucked into a 2011 lx570 engine with only 45k on it from ebay for 6k shipped. I sold my old engine to the shop that did the install. Old engine had 230k on it and I believe they were going to go through it and do the chains etc. I used lc worx in Philly . I live in central NJ. Send me a message if you want to discuss further

Good data. Will follow-up w/ you....

@TTO5 Can you share what your shop figured on hours to do the engine replacement job?

Sure. They charged 3200 labor which included resealing valley on new used engine.

I am like a couple of you fellas and I am seeking a replacement engine for my "new to me" 2014. I have found that engine sources/suppliers are reluctant to disclose donor VIN's. Some don't even know the VIN, so I have been told.
@ liv2bike: I have been following your saga on another thread. Have you been able to obtain the VIN of your donor LX vehicle?

Have you considered buying a wrecked cruiser, pulling the engine, and then selling the vehicle you bought? I kinda wonder if you put the blown engine in that and sold it at auction again if it would fetch close to whatever you pay for it?

@linux: that's a unique angle....there are quite a few forks in the road here. Some involve $, some involve time/effort and some involve both.
A bit like a poker hand...know when to fold and forfeit your sunk cost vs "OK, I'll play". and the donor engine STILL remains an unknown....;)

Yeah practically speaking it’s a big investment to maybe come out close to even on the engine cost. But you’d be able to research the VIN and if it’s wrecked at auction you can see the visible condition - ie if it’s wrecked in the rear and low mileage the engine is probably ok…

Echo that... but I am finding a reluctance of certain vendors to share VIN's. Disturbing at best....
