Hey ,

when will the 200 get a facelift ? summer '12 ?

It really is behind in terms of luxury ( the lc200 ) when compared to competitors , while the lx570 is doing fine...

im sure toyota can atleast make the lc feel more like a 70k + vehicle without affecting lx sales.. ?

any info on future lc models ? engine updates ?

Using history as an indicator, an LC refresh occurs every 8-10 years. So 2016-2018 is anyone's best guess.

As the LC200 is not a luxury vehicle (no Toyota is) and while the LX570 (and all Lexus' vehicles are) sold as luxury vehicles, this is an unfair comparison.

I didn't spend $70K for luxury, so I do not see why "toyota can atleast make the lc feel more like a 70k + vehicle" as it is does not compare to ANY other vehicle, even ones in its "class".

Name one other $70k+ vehicle that has what the LC offers? I feel I got my $70k worth big time, and then some.

what i ment as a face lift was a bit of a refresh to the looks or interior , not a totally new body.

as for your question , the nissan patrol , the new generation , offers what the toyota has to offer and better luxury . .similar price range too , so that is a competitor toyota would want to worry about over here in the gulf region and other parts of the world in which it is sold.

You mean to tell me this thing is a competitor overseas?

This is sold in the US as the Infiniti QX56, which I've driven. In no way would I compare that to an LC, but to each his own I guess. I've also driven the Nissan Armada which shares the same frame, and that was junk.

This pig doesn't even have a SRA, but neither will the next LC seeing where the market is headed. Not sure how they are proclaiming it as a fulltime 4x4 with power redirection...that would be AWD in my book.

Well to be honest , i do agree with you to a certain extent , but it actually is the main competitor to the 200 over here...

it has rear lockers , and high - low range , fancy 4wd offroad mode settings like the range rover , and apparentely it has better departure and arrival angles..

how ever , offroad im sure the 200 is better.

but like you said the way the market is headed the 200 is bound to end like this patrol , and over here it is considered the top competitor even nissan and toyota think so ... so it would be interesting to see how toyota goes with future facelifts.

My bet is that we'll see the mid model refresh around late summer 2013. That would put it around the same time frame as the other LC mid model refreshes at 5 years.

The first model 100 went from 98-02 the 03 year had the refresh (5 years)
The first model 80 went from 90-94 the 95 year had the refresh (5 years)
The first model 60 went from 80-87 the 88 year had the refresh (7 years)

My guess is that the refresh will take place fall 2012 with the 2013 model. Remember, Toyota is rolling out Entune to a few models this year and likely to the whole line-up by 2013. I would expect to see 2012 LC unchanged and the refresh for 2013MY. Wouldn't mind cooled seats and no more fake wood trim - give me leather preferably or real wood.

They have stopped producing and selling the Y61 Patrol in the European market and I presume other markets that their Spanish plant sold to. They will have to go like Toyota and keep the standard Y61 for markets in developing countries or loose those markets completely. Some people actually need their 4x4s to work in 4WD beyond getting to the market in a bit of snow on a level paved road. Last year I was at one of the big UN compounds in Timor Leste. It was full of Prados. I asked if they have to go into a place where the road is bad (the usual Timorese road outside of Dili) what would they take. They said one of the 105s or a Y61. I didn't notice any 200s. Many of the NGOs were using Troopies, Patrols, Delicas and Pajeros.

That's one compound. The UN have bought, and are using, more than 1,000 Series 200 LCs. They are mostly V8 diesels with cloth seats, manual transmissions, black mirrors and steel wheels but otherwise identical to the more luxurious 200s sold in North America.

To answer the op, and to repeat what ff4life said, expect midlife refresh around MY13.
