In visiting the GX 460 forum there are quite a few problems with brake rotors. They claim Lexus used to exchange new rotors when an owner experienced problems but now they turn the rotors first and then exchange if there is still a problem. The reason I asked the question was several owners of the GX460 also own LX570s and some of those are experiencing problems. I haven't seen any problems on here so just wondered if I missed them. Thanks!

No issues here. What kind of problems were people experiencing? Retardation is acceptable rather than impressive though. Brakes are squeaking at 15k, I'll likely just try taking them off and give the rotors and calipers a quick clean and see if that fixes things but the sounds doesn't really bother me and the discs and pads look in good shape (as they should be at this mileage).

Seems there is a vibration when braking and the plates are warped! It happens as early as 4000 miles and some are hitting later. The only reason I asked is that some owners have lx570s and seems to be happening to them also. Might only be several but quite a few posts on the GX board.

Front brakes first replaced at 58k miles due to wear only. Rotors were turned and now, 11k miles later, are warped. Yes, they now shake/vibrate when braking. The dealer verified they ware warped and wants to turn them once more, but I've purchased new, replacement EBC rotors. I don't want to revisit the dealer every 10k or so for a new brake job. My old Rover went through brakes quickly, but Land Rover recommended replacing the rotors each time, not turning them.

I haven't noticed any problem except for the squealing, but now that I think about it I had to replace my brakes at the 35K service as they were almost gone.

60,000 miles on mine and no problems yet.

They are not big sized - for the weight of the modified cars - most of us use.. Arb Bars, Wind, add. fuel tanks - let us calculate 300kg more than standard.

Then many here are towing much stuff - who often haven't a own brake system..

Its normal that you have to spend more money for service ;-)

Other drive stock, and get their 60`000-80`000kms without problems

My 2008 is in the shop now for brakes all around. 33K miles. Lots of hills in my neck of the woods though. Maybe not so bad.

61,000 miles. Tow a heavy boat a lot with no brakes on trailer. No brake problems at all.

I try to drive very easy on my truck. Who knows.

I find that toyotas are very sensitive to lug nut torque. Mine have been over torqued several times which let to a braking vibration. Given that I caught the problem early, retorquing fixed the problem.
